ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਏ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨੀਆ ॥ मोहनी मोहि लीए त्रै गुनीआ ॥ Mohnee mohi lee▫é ṫaræ gunee▫aa. Maya, the enticer, has enticed the world of the three gunas, the three qualities. ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ मारू महला ५ ॥ Maaroo mėhlaa 5. Maaroo, Fifth Mehl: ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਚੀ ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਸਗਲ ਲੇ ਛਲੀਆ ॥੧॥ मेरी मेरी करि कै संची अंत की बार सगल ले छलीआ ॥१॥ Méree méree kar kæ sanchee anṫ kee baar sagal lé chʰalee▫aa. ||1|| Crying out, “mine, mine” they collect possessions, but in the end, they are all deceived. ||1|| ਲੋਭਿ ਵਿਆਪੀ ਝੂਠੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ॥ लोभि विआपी झूठी दुनीआ ॥ Lobʰ vi▫aapee jʰootʰee ḋunee▫aa. The false world is engrossed in greed. ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਦਇਅਲੀਆ ॥ निरभउ निरंकारु दइअलीआ ॥ Nirbʰa▫o nirankaar ḋa▫i▫alee▫aa. The Lord is fearless, formless and merciful. ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਲੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जीअ जंत सगले प्रतिपलीआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Jee▫a janṫ saglé parṫipalee▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o. He is the Cherisher of all beings and creatures. ||1||Pause|| ਏਕੈ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਗਾਡੀ ਗਡਹੈ ॥ एकै स्रमु करि गाडी गडहै ॥ Ékæ saram kar gaadee gadhæ. Some collect wealth, and bury it in the ground. ਏਕਹਿ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਦਾਮੁ ਨ ਛਡਹੈ ॥ एकहि सुपनै दामु न छडहै ॥ Ékėh supnæ ḋaam na chʰadhæ. Some cannot abandon wealth, even in their dreams. ਰਾਜੁ ਕਮਾਇ ਕਰੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਥੈਲੀ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚੰਚਲਿ ਚਲੀਆ ॥੨॥ राजु कमाइ करी जिनि थैली ता कै संगि न चंचलि चलीआ ॥२॥ Raaj kamaa▫é karee jin ṫʰælee ṫaa kæ sang na chanchal chalee▫aa. ||2|| The king exercises his power, and fills his money-bags, but this fickle companion will not go along with him. ||2|| ਏਕਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪਿੰਡ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥ एकहि प्राण पिंड ते पिआरी ॥ Ékėh paraaṇ pind ṫé pi▫aaree. Some love this wealth even more than their body and breath of life. ਏਕ ਸੰਚੀ ਤਜਿ ਬਾਪ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥ एक संची तजि बाप महतारी ॥ Ék sanchee ṫaj baap mėhṫaaree. Some collect it, forsaking their fathers and mothers. ਹੋਇ ਅਉਧੂਤ ਬੈਠੇ ਲਾਇ ਤਾਰੀ ॥ होइ अउधूत बैठे लाइ तारी ॥ Ho▫é a▫uḋʰooṫ bætʰé laa▫é ṫaaree. Some become hermits, and sit in meditative trances. ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ जोगी जती पंडित बीचारी ॥ Jogee jaṫee pandiṫ beechaaree. Some are Yogis, celibates, religious scholars and thinkers. ਸੁਤ ਮੀਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਤੇ ਗੁਹਜੀ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਖਲੀਆ ॥੩॥ सुत मीत भ्रात ते गुहजी ता कै निकटि न होई खलीआ ॥३॥ Suṫ meeṫ bʰaraaṫ ṫé guhjee ṫaa kæ nikat na ho▫ee kʰalee▫aa. ||3|| Some hide it from their children, friends and siblings, but it will not remain with them. ||3|| ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮੜੀ ਮਸਾਣੀ ਬਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਸਤੇ ਊਠਿ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੈ ਲਾਗੀ ਪਲੀਆ ॥੪॥ ग्रिहि मड़ी मसाणी बन महि बसते ऊठि तिना कै लागी पलीआ ॥४॥ Garihi maṛee masaaṇee ban mėh basṫé ootʰ ṫinaa kæ laagee palee▫aa. ||4|| Some dwell in homes, graveyards, cremation grounds and forests; but Maya still clings to them there. ||4|| ਕਾਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ॥ काटे बंधन ठाकुरि जा के ॥ Kaaté banḋʰan tʰaakur jaa ké. When the Lord and Master releases one from his bonds, ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਸਿਓ ਜੀਅ ਤਾ ਕੈ ॥ हरि हरि नामु बसिओ जीअ ता कै ॥ Har har naam basi▫o jee▫a ṫaa kæ. the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, comes to dwell in his soul. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭਏ ਜਨ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਲੀਆ ॥੫॥੨॥੧੮॥ साधसंगि भए जन मुकते गति पाई नानक नदरि निहलीआ ॥५॥२॥१८॥ Saaḋʰsang bʰa▫é jan mukṫé gaṫ paa▫ee Naanak naḋar nihlee▫aa. ||5||2||18|| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, His humble servants are liberated; O Nanak! They are redeemed and enraptured by the Lord’s Glance of Grace. ||5||2||18||
