ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਕਹਹਿ ਸੁਣਾਵਹਿ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਮਝਾਵਹਿ ਸਮਝਿ ਰਹੇ ॥ किस कउ कहहि सुणावहि किस कउ किसु समझावहि समझि रहे ॥ Kis ka▫o kahėh suṇaavėh kis ka▫o kis samjʰaavahi samajʰ rahé. Unto whom do they speak? Unto whom do they preach? Who understands? Let them understand themselves. ਕਿਸੈ ਪੜਾਵਹਿ ਪੜਿ ਗੁਣਿ ਬੂਝੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥ किसै पड़ावहि पड़ि गुणि बूझे सतिगुर सबदि संतोखि रहे ॥१॥ Kisæ paṛaavėh paṛ guṇ boojʰé saṫgur sabaḋ sanṫokʰ rahé. ||1|| Who do they teach? Through study, they come to realize the Lord’s Glorious Virtues. Through the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru, they come to dwell in contentment. ||1|| ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ आसा महला १ ॥ Aasaa mėhlaa 1. Aasaa, First Mehl: ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਮਤੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥ ऐसा गुरमति रमतु सरीरा ॥ Æsaa gurmaṫ ramaṫ sareeraa. Through the Guru’s Teachings, realize that He is pervading in all bodies; ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ हरि भजु मेरे मन गहिर ग्मभीरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Har bʰaj méré man gahir gambʰeeraa. ||1|| rahaa▫o. O my soul, vibrate on the Profound, Unfathomable Lord. ||1||Pause|| ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਾ ॥ अनत तरंग भगति हरि रंगा ॥ Anaṫ ṫarang bʰagaṫ har rangaa. Loving devotion to the Lord brings endless waves of joy and delight. ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ राम भगति जनु रहै निरारा ॥२॥ Raam bʰagaṫ jan rahæ niraaraa. ||2|| The humble devotee of the Lord remains unattached. ||2|| ਸੂਚੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ सूची काइआ हरि गुण गाइआ ॥ Soochee kaa▫i▫aa har guṇ gaa▫i▫aa. The body which sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord is sanctified. ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ मिथिआ जनमु साकत संसारा ॥ Miṫʰi▫aa janam saakaṫ sansaaraa. The birth into the world of the faithless cynic is totally useless. ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੂਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗਾ ॥ अनदिनु सूचे हरि गुण संगा ॥ An▫ḋin sooché har guṇ sangaa. One who dwells with the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day, is sanctified. ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ आतमु चीनि रहै लिव लाइआ ॥ Aaṫam cheen rahæ liv laa▫i▫aa. The soul remains conscious of the Lord, absorbed in His Love. ਆਦਿ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਹੀਰਾ ॥ आदि अपारु अपर्मपरु हीरा ॥ Aaḋ apaar aprampar heeraa. The Lord is the Infinite Primal Being, beyond the beyond, the priceless jewel. ਲਾਲਿ ਰਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਾ ॥੩॥ लालि रता मेरा मनु धीरा ॥३॥ Laal raṫaa méraa man ḋʰeeraa. ||3|| My mind is totally content, imbued with my Beloved. ||3|| ਕਥਨੀ ਕਹਹਿ ਕਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਮੂਏ ॥ कथनी कहहि कहहि से मूए ॥ Kaṫʰnee kahėh kahėh sé moo▫é. Those who speak and babble on and on, are truly dead. ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੂੰ ਹੈ ॥ सो प्रभु दूरि नाही प्रभु तूं है ॥ So parabʰ ḋoor naahee parabʰ ṫooⁿ hæ. God is not far away - O God, You are right here. ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਛਾਇਆ ॥ सभु जगु देखिआ माइआ छाइआ ॥ Sabʰ jag ḋékʰi▫aa maa▫i▫aa chʰaa▫i▫aa. I have seen that the whole world is engrossed in Maya.
