ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗਹਿਓ ਨ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥ मन रे गहिओ न गुर उपदेसु ॥ Man ré gahi▫o na gur upḋés. O mind, you have not accepted the Guru’s Teachings. ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥ सोरठि महला ९ ॥ Soratʰ mėhlaa 9. Sorat’h, Ninth Mehl: ਕਹਾ ਭਇਓ ਜਉ ਮੂਡੁ ਮੁਡਾਇਓ ਭਗਵਉ ਕੀਨੋ ਭੇਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ कहा भइओ जउ मूडु मुडाइओ भगवउ कीनो भेसु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Kahaa bʰa▫i▫o ja▫o mood muḋaa▫i▫o bʰagva▫o keeno bʰés. ||1|| rahaa▫o. What is the use of shaving your head, and wearing saffron robes? ||1||Pause|| ਸਾਚ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਝੂਠਹ ਲਾਗਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਰਥੁ ਖੋਇਓ ॥ साच छाडि कै झूठह लागिओ जनमु अकारथु खोइओ ॥ Saach chʰaad kæ jʰootʰah laagi▫o janam akaaraṫʰ kʰo▫i▫o. Abandoning Truth, you cling to falsehood; your life is uselessly wasting away. ਕਰਿ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਉਦਰ ਨਿਜ ਪੋਖਿਓ ਪਸੁ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਸੋਇਓ ॥੧॥ करि परपंच उदर निज पोखिओ पसु की निआई सोइओ ॥१॥ Kar parpanch uḋar nij pokʰi▫o pas kee ni▫aa▫ee so▫i▫o. ||1|| Practicing hypocrisy, you fill your belly, and then sleep like an animal. ||1|| ਰਾਮ ਭਜਨ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਾਥਿ ਬਿਕਾਨਾ ॥ राम भजन की गति नही जानी माइआ हाथि बिकाना ॥ Raam bʰajan kee gaṫ nahee jaanee maa▫i▫aa haaṫʰ bikaanaa. You do not know the Way of the Lord’s meditation; you have sold yourself into Maya’s hands. ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਖਿਅਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਉਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਬਿਸਰਾਨਾ ॥੨॥ उरझि रहिओ बिखिअन संगि बउरा नामु रतनु बिसराना ॥२॥ Urajʰ rahi▫o bikʰi▫an sang ba▫uraa naam raṫan bisraanaa. ||2|| The madman remains entangled in vice and corruption; he has forgotten the jewel of the Naam. ||2|| ਰਹਿਓ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਅਉਧ ਸਿਰਾਨੀ ॥ रहिओ अचेतु न चेतिओ गोबिंद बिरथा अउध सिरानी ॥ Rahi▫o achéṫ na chéṫi▫o gobinḋ birṫʰaa a▫oḋʰ siraanee. He remains thoughtless, not thinking of the Lord of the Universe; his life is uselessly passing away. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਪਛਾਨਉ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੩॥੧੦॥ कहु नानक हरि बिरदु पछानउ भूले सदा परानी ॥३॥१०॥ Kaho Naanak har biraḋ pachʰaana▫o bʰoolé saḋaa paraanee. ||3||10|| Says Nanak, O Lord, please, confirm your innate nature; this mortal is continually making mistakes. ||3||10||
