ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ बिलावलु महला ५ ॥ Bilaaval mėhlaa 5. Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl: ਮਿਰਤੁ ਹਸੈ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰੇ ਪਸੂਆ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ॥ मिरतु हसै सिर ऊपरे पसूआ नही बूझै ॥ Miraṫ hasæ sir oopré pasoo▫aa nahee boojʰæ. Death hovers over his head, laughing, but the beast does not understand. ਬਾਦ ਸਾਦ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਮਰਣਾ ਨਹੀ ਸੂਝੈ ॥੧॥ बाद साद अहंकार महि मरणा नही सूझै ॥१॥ Baaḋ saaḋ ahaⁿkaar mėh marṇaa nahee soojʰæ. ||1|| Entangled in conflict, pleasure and egotism, he does not even think of death. ||1|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਆਪਨਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਫਿਰਹੁ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥ सतिगुरु सेवहु आपना काहे फिरहु अभागे ॥ Saṫgur sévhu aapnaa kaahé firahu abʰaagé. So, serve your True Guru; why wander around miserable and unfortunate? ਦੇਖਿ ਕਸੁੰਭਾ ਰੰਗੁਲਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਭੂਲਿ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ देखि कसु्मभा रंगुला काहे भूलि लागे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Ḋékʰ kasumbʰaa rangulaa kaahé bʰool laagé. ||1|| rahaa▫o. You gaze upon the transitory, beautiful safflower, but why do you get attached to it? ||1||Pause|| ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਪ ਦਰਬੁ ਕੀਆ ਵਰਤਣ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥ करि करि पाप दरबु कीआ वरतण कै ताई ॥ Kar kar paap ḋarab kee▫aa varṫaṇ kæ ṫaa▫ee. You commit sins again and again, to gather wealth to spend. ਮਾਟੀ ਸਿਉ ਮਾਟੀ ਰਲੀ ਨਾਗਾ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥ माटी सिउ माटी रली नागा उठि जाई ॥२॥ Maatee si▫o maatee ralee naagaa utʰ jaa▫ee. ||2|| But your dust shall mix with dust; you shall arise and depart naked. ||2|| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕੀਐ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰੈ ਤੇ ਬੈਰ ਬਿਰੋਧੀ ॥ जा कै कीऐ स्रमु करै ते बैर बिरोधी ॥ Jaa kæ kee▫æ saram karæ ṫé bær biroḋʰee. Those for whom you work, will become your spiteful enemies. ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ਭਜਿ ਜਾਹਿਗੇ ਕਾਹੇ ਜਲਹੁ ਕਰੋਧੀ ॥੩॥ अंत कालि भजि जाहिगे काहे जलहु करोधी ॥३॥ Anṫ kaal bʰaj jaahigé kaahé jalahu karoḋʰee. ||3|| In the end, they will run away from you; why do you fume in anger for them? ||3|| ਦਾਸ ਰੇਣੁ ਸੋਈ ਹੋਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮਾ ॥ दास रेणु सोई होआ जिसु मसतकि करमा ॥ Ḋaas réṇ so▫ee ho▫aa jis masṫak karmaa. He alone becomes the dust of the Lord’s slaves, who has such good karma upon his forehead. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੁਟੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੩੬॥ कहु नानक बंधन छुटे सतिगुर की सरना ॥४॥६॥३६॥ Kaho Naanak banḋʰan chʰuté saṫgur kee sarnaa. ||4||6||36|| Says Nanak, he is released from bondage, in the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||4||6||36||
