ਤੂਟੇ ਤਾਗੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੀ ਪਾਨਿ ॥ तूटे तागे निखुटी पानि ॥ Ṫooté ṫaagé nikʰutee paan. The threads are broken, and the starch has run out. ਗੋਂਡ ॥ गोंड ॥ Gond. Gond: ਇਆ ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਚਢਿਬੋ ਕਾਲ ॥੧॥ इआ मुंडीआ सिरि चढिबो काल ॥१॥ I▫aa mundee▫aa sir chadʰibo kaal. ||1|| Death has entered this shaven head. ||1|| ਦੁਆਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਝਿਲਕਾਵਹਿ ਕਾਨ ॥ दुआर ऊपरि झिलकावहि कान ॥ Ḋu▫aar oopar jʰilkaavahi kaan. Bare reeds glisten at the front door. ਕੂਚ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ਫੂਏ ਫਾਲ ॥ कूच बिचारे फूए फाल ॥ Kooch bichaaré foo▫é faal. The poor brushes are scattered in pieces. ਇਹੁ ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਸਗਲੋ ਦ੍ਰਬੁ ਖੋਈ ॥ इहु मुंडीआ सगलो द्रबु खोई ॥ Ih mundee▫aa saglo ḋarab kʰo▫ee. This shaven-headed mendicant has wasted all his wealth. ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਨਾਕ ਸਰ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ आवत जात नाक सर होई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Aavaṫ jaaṫ naak sar ho▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o. All this coming and going has irritated him. ||1||Pause|| ਤੁਰੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਕੀ ਛੋਡੀ ਬਾਤਾ ॥ तुरी नारि की छोडी बाता ॥ Ṫuree naar kee chʰodee baaṫaa. He has given up all talk of his weaving equipment. ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਵਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ राम नाम वा का मनु राता ॥ Raam naam vaa kaa man raaṫaa. His mind is attuned to the Lord’s Name. ਲਰਿਕੀ ਲਰਿਕਨ ਖੈਬੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ लरिकी लरिकन खैबो नाहि ॥ Larikee larikan kʰæbo naahi. His daughters and sons have nothing to eat, ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਾਪੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥ मुंडीआ अनदिनु धापे जाहि ॥२॥ Mundee▫aa an▫ḋin ḋʰaapé jaahi. ||2|| while the shaven-headed mendicants night and day eat their fill. ||2|| ਇਕ ਦੁਇ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਇਕ ਦੁਇ ਬਾਟ ॥ इक दुइ मंदरि इक दुइ बाट ॥ Ik ḋu▫é manḋar ik ḋu▫é baat. One or two are in the house, and one or two more are on the way. ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਾਥਰੁ ਉਨ ਕਉ ਖਾਟ ॥ हम कउ साथरु उन कउ खाट ॥ Ham ka▫o saaṫʰar un ka▫o kʰaat. We sleep on the floor, while they sleep in the beds. ਹਮ ਕਉ ਚਾਬਨੁ ਉਨ ਕਉ ਰੋਟੀ ॥੩॥ हम कउ चाबनु उन कउ रोटी ॥३॥ Ham ka▫o chaaban un ka▫o rotee. ||3|| We get dry grains, while they get loaves of bread. ||3|| ਏ ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਬੂਡਤ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ॥ ए मुंडीआ बूडत की टेक ॥ É mundee▫aa boodaṫ kee ték. They are the support of the drowning. ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਹੂਏ ਏਕ ॥ मुंडीआ मुंडीआ हूए एक ॥ Mundee▫aa mundee▫aa hoo▫é ék. He will become one of these shaven-headed mendicants. ਮੂਡ ਪਲੋਸਿ ਕਮਰ ਬਧਿ ਪੋਥੀ ॥ मूड पलोसि कमर बधि पोथी ॥ Mood palos kamar baḋʰ poṫʰee. They rub their bare heads, and carry prayer-books in their waist-bands. ਸੁਨਿ ਅੰਧਲੀ ਲੋਈ ਬੇਪੀਰਿ ॥ सुनि अंधली लोई बेपीरि ॥ Sun anḋʰlee lo▫ee bépeer. Listen, O blind and unguided Loi: ਇਨੑ ਮੁੰਡੀਅਨ ਭਜਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਕਬੀਰ ॥੪॥੩॥੬॥ इन्ह मुंडीअन भजि सरनि कबीर ॥४॥३॥६॥ Inĥ mundee▫an bʰaj saran Kabeer. ||4||3||6|| Kabir has taken shelter with these shaven-headed mendicants. ||4||3||6||
