Jiṯ ko lā▫i▫ā ṯiṯ hī lāgā.
As the Lord attaches someone, so is he attached.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

He alone is the Lord's servant, O Nanak, who is so blessed. ||8||6||
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਜੋ ਚੰਗੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ!

Bin simran jaise sarap ārjārī.
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one's life is like that of a snake.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਸੱਪ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੈ।

Ŧi▫o jīvėh sākaṯ nām bisārī. ||1||
This is how the faithless cynic lives, forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਇੰਜ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਕ, ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Ėk nimakẖ jo simran mėh jī▫ā.
One who lives in meditative remembrance, even for an instant,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੀਊਦਾ ਹੈ,

Kot ḏinas lākẖ saḏā thir thī▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
lives for hundreds of thousands and millions of days, and becomes stable forever. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਲੱਖਾਂ, ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Bin simran ḏẖarig karam karās.
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one's actions and works are cursed.
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਭਜਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਲਾਨ੍ਹਤਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ।

Kāg baṯan bistā mėh vās. ||2||
Like the crow's beak, he dwells in manure. ||2||
ਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੁੰਝ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।

Bin simran bẖa▫e kūkar kām.
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one acts like a dog.
ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਅਮਲ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Sākaṯ besu▫ā pūṯ ninām. ||3||
The faithless cynic is nameless, like the prostitute's son. ||3||
ਅਧਰਮੀ ਕੰਜਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੇ-ਨਾਮਾ ਹੈ।

Bin simran jaise sīń cẖẖaṯārā.
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one is like a horned ram.
ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਿੰਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਛਤਰੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ।

Bolėh kūr sākaṯ mukẖ kārā. ||4||
The faithless cynic barks out his lies, and his face is blackened. ||4||
ਕਾਫਰ ਝੂਠ ਬਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਾਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Bin simran garḏẖabẖ kī ni▫ā▫ī.
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one is like a donkey.
ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਗਧੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ।

Sākaṯ thān bẖarisat firā▫ī. ||5||
The faithless cynic wanders around in polluted places. ||5||
ਕੁਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੀਤ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Bin simran kūkar harkā▫i▫ā.
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one is like a mad dog.
ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਭਜਨ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਉਹ ਹਲਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਨੰਦ ਹੈ।

Sākaṯ lobẖī banḏẖ na pā▫i▫ā. ||6||
The greedy, faithless cynic falls into entanglements. ||6||
ਲਾਲਚੀ ਕਾਫਰ ਫਾਹੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

Bin simran hai āṯam gẖāṯī.
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, he murders his own soul.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦਾ ਕਾਤਲ ਹੈ।

Sākaṯ nīcẖ ṯis kul nahī jāṯī. ||7||
The faithless cynic is wretched, without family or social standing. ||7||
ਬੇਮੁਖ ਕਮੀਨਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਘਰਾਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਜਾਤ ਨਹੀਂ।

Jis bẖa▫i▫ā kirpāl ṯis saṯsang milā▫i▫ā.
When the Lord becomes merciful, one joins the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Kaho Nānak gur jagaṯ ṯarā▫i▫ā. ||8||7||
Says Nanak, the Guru has saved the world. ||8||7||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

The Perfect Guru has preserved my honor. ||1||
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜਤ ਰਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ।

Gur kai bacẖan ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫o mohi nā▫o.
Through the Guru's Word, I meditate on the Name.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਲਾਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

Gur parsāḏ mohi mili▫ā thā▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By Guru's Grace, I have obtained a place of rest. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆਲਤਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Gur kai bacẖan suṇ rasan vakẖāṇī.
I listen to the Guru's Word, and chant it with my tongue.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੈਂ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Gur kirpā ṯe amriṯ merī baṇī. ||2||
By Guru's Grace, my speech is like nectar. ||2||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਵਰਗੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

Gur kai bacẖan miti▫ā merā āp.
Through the Guru's Word, my selfishness and conceit have been removed.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਲਾਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੁਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

Gur kī ḏa▫i▫ā ṯe merā vad parṯāp. ||3||
Through the Guru's kindness, I have obtained glorious greatness. ||3||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਹੈ।

Gur kai bacẖan miti▫ā merā bẖaram.
Through the Guru's Word, my doubts have been removed.
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Gur kai bacẖan pekẖi▫o sabẖ barahm. ||4||
Through the Guru's Word, I see God everywhere. ||4||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Gur kai bacẖan kīno rāj jog.
Through the Guru's Word, I practice Raja Yoga, the Yoga of meditation and success.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਮਾਣੀ ਹੈ।

Gur kai sang ṯari▫ā sabẖ log. ||5||
In the Company of the Guru, all the people of the world are saved. ||5||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕੀਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

Gur kai bacẖan mere kāraj siḏẖ.
Through the Guru's Word, my affairs are resolved.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

Gur kai bacẖan pā▫i▫ā nā▫o niḏẖ. ||6||
Through the Guru's Word, I have obtained the nine treasures. ||6||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Jin jin kīnī mere gur kī āsā.
Whoever places his hopes in my Guru,
ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,

Ŧis kī katī▫ai jam kī fāsā. ||7||
has the noose of death cut away. ||7||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

Gur kai bacẖan jāgi▫ā merā karam.
Through the Guru's Word, my good karma has been awakened.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਉਠੇ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, meeting with the Guru, I have found the Supreme Lord God. ||8||8||

Gur mere parāṇ saṯgur merī rās. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Guru is my breath of life, the True Guru is my wealth. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਜਾਨ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Gur kā ḏarsan ḏekẖ ḏekẖ jīvā.
Beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan, I live.
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Gur ke cẖaraṇ ḏẖo▫e ḏẖo▫e pīvā. ||1||
I wash the Guru's Feet, and drink in this water. ||1||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਮੇਂ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਧੋਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਧੌਣ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Gur kī reṇ niṯ majan kara▫o.
I take my daily bath in the dust of the Guru's Feet.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਰੋਜ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Janam janam kī ha▫umai mal hara▫o. ||2||
The egotistical filth of countless incarnations is washed off. ||2||
ਇੰਜ ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਧੋ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ।

Ŧis gur ka▫o jẖūlāva▫o pākẖā.
I wave the fan over the Guru.
ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਪੱਖਾ ਝੱਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Mahā agan ṯe hāth ḏe rākẖā. ||3||
Giving me His Hand, He has saved me from the great fire. ||3||
ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਰੀ ਅੱਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Ŧis gur kai garihi dẖova▫o pāṇī.
I carry water for the Guru's household;
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਲਈ ਜਲ ਢੋਦਾ ਹਾਂ,

Jis gur ṯe akal gaṯ jāṇī. ||4||
from the Guru, I have learned the Way of the One Lord. ||4||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗਿਆਤ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ।

Ŧis gur kai garihi pīsa▫o nīṯ.
I grind the corn for the Guru's household.
ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਾਣੇ ਪੀਹਦਾ ਹਾਂ,

Jis parsāḏ vairī sabẖ mīṯ. ||5||
By His Grace, all my enemies have become friends. ||5||
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
