ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवि गुण निधानु पाइआ तिस की कीम न पाई ॥
Saṫgur sév guṇ niḋʰaan paa▫i▫aa ṫis kee keem na paa▫ee.
Serving the True Guru, I have found the Treasure of Excellence. Its value cannot be estimated.

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੩॥
प्रभु सखा हरि जीउ मेरा अंते होइ सखाई ॥३॥
Parabʰ sakʰaa har jee▫o méraa anṫé ho▫é sakʰaa▫ee. ||3||
The Dear Lord God is my Best Friend. In the end, He shall be my Companion and Support. ||3||

ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
पेईअड़ै जगजीवनु दाता मनमुखि पति गवाई ॥
Pé▫ee▫aṛæ jagjeevan ḋaaṫaa manmukʰ paṫ gavaa▫ee.
In this world of my father’s home, the Great Giver is the Life of the World. The self-willed Manmukhs have lost their honor.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਅੰਧੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
बिनु सतिगुर को मगु न जाणै अंधे ठउर न काई ॥
Bin saṫgur ko mag na jaaṇæ anḋʰé tʰa▫ur na kaa▫ee.
Without the True Guru, no one knows the Way. The blind find no place of rest.

ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਵਸਿਆ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਈ ॥੪॥
हरि सुखदाता मनि नही वसिआ अंति गइआ पछुताई ॥४॥
Har sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa man nahee vasi▫aa anṫ ga▫i▫aa pachʰuṫaa▫ee. ||4||
If the Lord, the Giver of Peace, does not dwell within the mind, then they shall depart with regret in the end. ||4||

ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
पेईअड़ै जगजीवनु दाता गुरमति मंनि वसाइआ ॥
Pé▫ee▫aṛæ jagjeevan ḋaaṫaa gurmaṫ man vasaa▫i▫aa.
In this world of my father’s house, through the Guru’s Teachings, I have cultivated within my mind the Great Giver, the Life of the World.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
अनदिनु भगति करहि दिनु राती हउमै मोहु चुकाइआ ॥
An▫ḋin bʰagaṫ karahi ḋin raaṫee ha▫umæ moh chukaa▫i▫aa.
Night and day, performing devotional worship, day and night, ego and emotional attachment are removed.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤਾ ਤੈਸੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
जिसु सिउ राता तैसो होवै सचे सचि समाइआ ॥५॥
Jis si▫o raaṫaa ṫæso hovæ saché sach samaa▫i▫aa. ||5||
And then, attuned to Him, we become like Him, truly absorbed in the True One. ||5||

ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਭਾਉ ਲਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
आपे नदरि करे भाउ लाए गुर सबदी बीचारि ॥
Aapé naḋar karé bʰaa▫o laa▫é gur sabḋee beechaar.
Bestowing His Glance of Grace, He gives us His Love, and we contemplate the Word of the Guru’s Shabad.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਹਜੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
सतिगुरु सेविऐ सहजु ऊपजै हउमै त्रिसना मारि ॥
Saṫgur sévi▫æ sahj oopjæ ha▫umæ ṫarisnaa maar.
Serving the True Guru, intuitive peace wells up, and ego and desire die.

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਸਦ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੬॥
हरि गुणदाता सद मनि वसै सचु रखिआ उर धारि ॥६॥
Har guṇḋaaṫaa saḋ man vasæ sach rakʰi▫aa ur ḋʰaar. ||6||
The Lord, the Giver of Virtue, dwells forever within the minds of those who keep Truth enshrined within their hearts. ||6||

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਮਨਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
प्रभु मेरा सदा निरमला मनि निरमलि पाइआ जाइ ॥
Parabʰ méraa saḋaa nirmalaa man nirmal paa▫i▫aa jaa▫é.
My God is forever Immaculate and Pure; with a pure mind, He can be found.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
नामु निधानु हरि मनि वसै हउमै दुखु सभु जाइ ॥
Naam niḋʰaan har man vasæ ha▫umæ ḋukʰ sabʰ jaa▫é.
If the Treasure of the Name of the Lord abides within the mind, egotism and pain are totally eliminated.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੭॥
सतिगुरि सबदु सुणाइआ हउ सद बलिहारै जाउ ॥७॥
Saṫgur sabaḋ suṇaa▫i▫aa ha▫o saḋ balihaaræ jaa▫o. ||7||
The True Guru has instructed me in the Word of the Shabad. I am forever a sacrifice to Him. ||7||

ਆਪਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਹੈ ਕਹਾਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
आपणै मनि चिति कहै कहाए बिनु गुर आपु न जाई ॥
Aapṇæ man chiṫ kahæ kahaa▫é bin gur aap na jaa▫ee.
Within your own conscious mind, you may say anything, but without the Guru, selfishness and conceit are not eradicated.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
हरि जीउ भगति वछलु सुखदाता करि किरपा मंनि वसाई ॥
Har jee▫o bʰagaṫ vachʰal sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa kar kirpaa man vasaa▫ee.
The Dear Lord is the Lover of His devotees, the Giver of Peace. By His Grace, He abides within the mind.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੮॥੧॥੧੮॥
नानक सोभा सुरति देइ प्रभु आपे गुरमुखि दे वडिआई ॥८॥१॥१८॥
Naanak sobʰaa suraṫ ḋé▫é parabʰ aapé gurmukʰ ḋé vadi▫aa▫ee. ||8||1||18||
O Nanak! God blesses us with the sublime awakening of consciousness; He Himself grants glorious greatness to the Gurmukh. ||8||1||18||

ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਜਮਡੰਡੁ ਲਗੈ ਤਿਨ ਆਇ ॥
हउमै करम कमावदे जमडंडु लगै तिन आइ ॥
Ha▫umæ karam kamaavḋé jamdand lagæ ṫin aa▫é.
Those who go around acting in egotism are struck down by the Messenger of Death with his club.

ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
जि सतिगुरु सेवनि से उबरे हरि सेती लिव लाइ ॥१॥
Jė saṫgur sévan sé ubré har séṫee liv laa▫é. ||1||
Those who serve the True Guru are uplifted and saved, in love with the Lord. ||1||
|
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
मन रे गुरमुखि नामु धिआइ ॥
Man ré gurmukʰ naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é.
O mind, become Gurmukh, and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਧੁਰਿ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
धुरि पूरबि करतै लिखिआ तिना गुरमति नामि समाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḋʰur poorab karṫæ likʰi▫aa ṫinaa gurmaṫ naam samaa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Those who are so predestined by the Creator are absorbed into the Naam, through the Guru’s Teachings. ||1||Pause||

ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੋ ਭਾਉ ॥
विणु सतिगुर परतीति न आवई नामि न लागो भाउ ॥
viṇ saṫgur parṫeeṫ na aavee naam na laago bʰaa▫o.
Without the True Guru, faith does not come, and love for the Naam is not embraced.

ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਈ ਦੁਖ ਮਹਿ ਸਵੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
सुपनै सुखु न पावई दुख महि सवै समाइ ॥२॥
Supnæ sukʰ na paav▫ee ḋukʰ mėh savæ samaa▫é. ||2||
Even in dreams, they find no peace; they sleep immersed in pain. ||2||
|
ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਚੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
जे हरि हरि कीचै बहुतु लोचीऐ किरतु न मेटिआ जाइ ॥
Jé har har keechæ bahuṫ lochee▫æ kiraṫ na méti▫aa jaa▫é.
Even if you chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, with great longing, your past actions are still not erased.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਪਏ ਦਰਿ ਥਾਇ ॥੩॥
हरि का भाणा भगती मंनिआ से भगत पए दरि थाइ ॥३॥
Har kaa bʰaaṇaa bʰagṫee mani▫aa sé bʰagaṫ pa▫é ḋar ṫʰaa▫é. ||3||
The Lord’s devotees surrender to His Will; those devotees are accepted at His Door. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਦਿੜਾਵੈ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
गुरु सबदु दिड़ावै रंग सिउ बिनु किरपा लइआ न जाइ ॥
Gur sabaḋ ḋiṛaavæ rang si▫o bin kirpaa la▫i▫aa na jaa▫é.
The Guru has lovingly implanted the Word of His Shabad within me. Without His Grace, it cannot be attained.

ਜੇ ਸਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨੀਰੀਐ ਭੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਫਲੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਧਾਇ ॥੪॥
जे सउ अमृतु नीरीऐ भी बिखु फलु लागै धाइ ॥४॥
Jé sa▫o amriṫ neeree▫æ bʰee bikʰ fal laagæ ḋʰaa▫é. ||4||
Even if the poisonous plant is watered with ambrosial nectar a hundred times, it will still bear poisonous fruit. ||4||
|
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
से जन सचे निरमले जिन सतिगुर नालि पिआरु ॥
Sé jan saché nirmalé jin saṫgur naal pi▫aar.
Those humble beings who are in love with the True Guru are pure and true.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥੫॥
सतिगुर का भाणा कमावदे बिखु हउमै तजि विकारु ॥५॥
Saṫgur kaa bʰaaṇaa kamaavḋé bikʰ ha▫umæ ṫaj vikaar. ||5||
They act in harmony with the Will of the True Guru; they shed the poison of ego and corruption. ||5||
|
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਉਪਾਇ ਨ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੋਧਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
मनहठि कितै उपाइ न छूटीऐ सिम्रिति सासत्र सोधहु जाइ ॥
Manhatʰ kiṫæ upaa▫é na chʰootee▫æ simriṫ saasṫar soḋʰhu jaa▫é.
Acting in stubborn-mindedness, no one is saved; go and study the Smritis and the Shastras.

ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਉਬਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੬॥
मिलि संगति साधू उबरे गुर का सबदु कमाइ ॥६॥
Mil sangaṫ saaḋʰoo ubré gur kaa sabaḋ kamaa▫é. ||6||
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and practicing the Shabads of the Guru, you shall be saved. ||6||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
हरि का नामु निधानु है जिसु अंतु न पारावारु ॥
Har kaa naam niḋʰaan hæ jis anṫ na paaraavaar.
The Name of the Lord is the Treasure, which has no end or limitation.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਈ ਸੋਹਦੇ ਜਿਨ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੭॥
गुरमुखि सेई सोहदे जिन किरपा करे करतारु ॥७॥
Gurmukʰ sé▫ee sohḋé jin kirpaa karé karṫaar. ||7||
The Gurmukhs are beauteous; the Creator has blessed them with His Mercy. ||7||
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਉਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
नानक दाता एकु है दूजा अउरु न कोइ ॥
Naanak ḋaaṫaa ék hæ ḋoojaa a▫or na ko▫é.
O Nanak! The One Lord alone is the Giver; there is no other at all.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੮॥੨॥੧੯॥
गुर परसादी पाईऐ करमि परापति होइ ॥८॥२॥१९॥
Gur parsaadee paa▫ee▫æ karam paraapaṫ ho▫é. ||8||2||19||
By Guru’s Grace, He is obtained. By His Mercy, He is found. ||8||2||19||
