ਸੰ. केशिन्- ਕੇਸ਼ੀ. ਵਿ. ਕੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ। 2. ਨਾਮ/n. ਇੱਕ ਦਾਨਵ, ਜੋ ਕੰਸ ਦੀ ਆਗ੍ਯਾ ਨਾਲ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਬਣਾਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਣ ਆਇਆ. ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਪਾਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਹਰੇ. “ਕੇਸੀ ਕੰਸ ਮਥਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ.” (ਗੌਂਡ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ) 3. ਨਿਰੁਕ੍ਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੂਰਜ ਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਕੇਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕੇਸ਼ (ਕਿਰਣਾਂ) ਧਾਰਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। 4. ਕੇਸੀਂ. ਕੇਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ, “ਕੰਸ ਕੇਸੀ ਪਕੜਿ ਗਿਰਾਇਆ.” (ਚੰਡੀ ੩) 5. ਕੇਸਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ. “ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੁਡਾਏ ਕੇਸੀ.” (ਮਃ ੧ ਵਾਰ ਰਾਮ ੧) ਸੱਤ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਨਾ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੁਡਾਏ, ਨਾ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦ੍ਵਾਰਾ। 6. ਕੇਸੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕੇਸਧਾਰੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਰਤਨਮਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ- “ਜਾਂਤੇ ਕੇਸੀ ਹੋਇ ਸਿਖ.” Footnotes:
