2. ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਅਵਧ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਘਾਟਿਆ ॥ Raga Gaurhee 5, 131, 4:1 (P: 207).

1. a very long span of time. According to Hindu mythology, one age of this creation is called ‘Juga’. Yugas are four in number: Satjuga, Treta, Dwapar and Kaljuga. Each age is 1728000, 1596000, 964000 and 472000 years (human years) respectively; all this time together forms a ‘Maha Jug’. The lifespan of each age has been progressively reduced. ਨਾਮ/n. ਯੁਗ. ਜੋੜਾ. ਦੋ ਵਸਤੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ. ਯੁਗਮ (ਦੋ) ਲਈ ਭੀ ਜੁਗ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ- ‘ਸ੍ਰੁਤ ਮੈਲ ਤੇ ਦੈਤ ਰਚੇ ਜੁਗ ਤਾ.” (ਚੰਡੀ ੧) ਕੰਨ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਤੋਂ ਦੋ ਦੈਤ। (ਮਧੁ ਕੈਟਭ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਚੇ. ਦੇਖੋ- ਤਾ ੫। 2. ਜਗਤ. “ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ.” (ਸੂਹੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਃ ੩) “ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ, ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਖ ਵਾਸੀ.” (ਸੋਪੁਰਖੁ) 3. ਸਤਯੁਗ ਆਦਿ ਯੁਗ. “ਸਤਜੁਗ ਤ੍ਰੇਤਾ ਦੁਆਪਰ ਭਣੀਐ.” (ਆਸਾ ਮਃ ੫) ਦੇਖੋ- ਯੁਗ। 4. ਚਾਰ ਸੰਖ੍ਯਾ ਬੋਧਕ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਯੁਗ ਚਾਰ ਮੰਨੇ ਹਨ। 5. ਵਿ. ਯੁਕ੍ਤ. ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ. “ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਜੁਗਜੋਗੀਆ.” (ਮਃ ੪ ਵਾਰ ਕਾਨ) ਯੁਕ੍ਤਯੋਗੀ. ਦੇਖੋ- ਯੁੰਜਾਨਯੋਗੀ.
