ਆਪੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਗੁਣ ਅਉਗਣ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ आपे जगतु उपाइ कै गुण अउगण करे बीचारु ॥ Aapé jagaṫ upaa▫é kæ guṇ a▫ugaṇ karé beechaar. He created the world; He considers the merits and demerits of the mortals. ਪਉੜੀ ॥ पउड़ी ॥ Pa▫oṛee. Pauree: ਗੁਣ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਉਗਣ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਹੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ गुण छोडि अउगण कमावदे दरगह होहि खुआरु ॥ Guṇ chʰod a▫ugaṇ kamaavḋé ḋargėh hohi kʰu▫aar. Forsaking virtue, they practice evil; they shall be miserable in the Court of the Lord. ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਰਬ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ त्रै गुण सरब जंजालु है नामि न धरे पिआरु ॥ Ṫaræ guṇ sarab janjaal hæ naam na ḋʰaré pi▫aar. Those who are entangled in the three gunas - the three dispositions - do not love the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨੀ ਹਾਰਿਆ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਏ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ जूऐ जनमु तिनी हारिआ कितु आए संसारि ॥ Joo▫æ janam ṫinee haari▫aa kiṫ aa▫é sansaar. They lose their life in the gamble; why did they even come into the world? ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ सचै सबदि मनु मारिआ अहिनिसि नामि पिआरि ॥ Sachæ sabaḋ man maari▫aa ahinis naam pi▫aar. But those who conquer and subdue their minds, through the True Word of the Shabad - night and day, they love the Naam. ਜਿਨੀ ਪੁਰਖੀ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਸਚਾ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ जिनी पुरखी उरि धारिआ सचा अलख अपारु ॥ Jinee purkʰee ur ḋʰaari▫aa sachaa alakʰ apaar. Those people enshrine the True, Invisible and Infinite Lord in their hearts. ਤੂ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਹਿ ਅਸੀ ਅਵਗਣਿਆਰ ॥ तू गुणदाता निधानु हहि असी अवगणिआर ॥ Ṫoo guṇḋaaṫaa niḋʰaan hėh asee avgaṇi▫aar. You, O Lord, are the Giver, the Treasure of virtue; I am unvirtuous and unworthy. ਜਿਸੁ ਬਖਸੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਇਸੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧੩॥ जिसु बखसे सो पाइसी गुर सबदी वीचारु ॥१३॥ Jis bakʰsé so paa▫isee gur sabḋee veechaar. ||13|| He alone finds You, whom You bless and forgive, and inspire to contemplate the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||13||
