ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਭਿ ਬੋਲਾ ॥
हम तुम संगि झूठे सभि बोला ॥
Ham ṯum sang jẖūṯẖe sabẖ bolā.
False is all his talk of me and you.

ਪਾਇ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਓ ॥
पाइ ठगउरी आपि भुलाइओ ॥
Pā▫e ṯẖag▫urī āp bẖulā▫i▫o.
The Lord Himself administers the poisonous potion, to mislead and delude.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਟਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
नानक किरतु न जाइ मिटाइओ ॥२॥
Nānak kiraṯ na jā▫e mitā▫i▫o. ||2||
O Nanak, the karma of past actions cannot be erased. ||2||
|
ਪਸੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਭੂਤ ਅਰੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਤਾ ॥
पसु पंखी भूत अरु प्रेता ॥
Pas pankẖī bẖūṯ ar pareṯā.
Beasts, birds, demons and ghosts -
|
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਫਿਰਤ ਅਨੇਤਾ ॥
बहु बिधि जोनी फिरत अनेता ॥
Baho biḏẖ jonī firaṯ aneṯā.
in these many ways, the false wander in reincarnation.
|
ਜਹ ਜਾਨੋ ਤਹ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
जह जानो तह रहनु न पावै ॥
Jah jāno ṯah rahan na pāvai.
Wherever they go, they cannot remain there.
|
ਥਾਨ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਉਠਿ ਉਠਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
थान बिहून उठि उठि फिरि धावै ॥
Thān bihūn uṯẖ uṯẖ fir ḏẖāvai.
They have no place of rest; they rise up again and again and run around.
|
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥
मनि तनि बासना बहुतु बिसथारा ॥
Man ṯan bāsnā bahuṯ bisthārā.
Their minds and bodies are filled with immense, expansive desires.
|
ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ਮੂਠੋ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ॥
अहमेव मूठो बेचारा ॥
Ahaʼnmev mūṯẖo becẖārā.
The poor wretches are cheated by egotism.
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਦੋਖ ਅਰੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸਜਾਈ ॥
अनिक दोख अरु बहुतु सजाई ॥
Anik ḏokẖ ar bahuṯ sajā▫ī.
They are filled with countless sins, and are severely punished.
|
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
ता की कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥
Ŧā kī kīmaṯ kahaṇ na jā▫ī.
The extent of this cannot be estimated.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਨਰਕ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
प्रभ बिसरत नरक महि पाइआ ॥
Parabẖ bisraṯ narak mėh pā▫i▫ā.
Forgetting God, they fall into hell.
|
ਤਹ ਮਾਤ ਨ ਬੰਧੁ ਨ ਮੀਤ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
तह मात न बंधु न मीत न जाइआ ॥
Ŧah māṯ na banḏẖ na mīṯ na jā▫i▫ā.
There are no mothers there, no siblings, no friends and no spouses.
|
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਹੋਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
जिस कउ होत क्रिपाल सुआमी ॥
Jis ka▫o hoṯ kirpāl su▫āmī.
Those humble beings, unto whom the Lord and Master becomes Merciful,
|
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਗਰਾਮੀ ॥੩॥
सो जनु नानक पारगरामी ॥३॥
So jan Nānak pārgarāmī. ||3||
O Nanak, cross over. ||3||
|
ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਨੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
भ्रमत भ्रमत प्रभ सरनी आइआ ॥
Bẖarmaṯ bẖarmaṯ parabẖ sarnī ā▫i▫ā.
Rambling and roaming, wandering around, I came to seek the Sanctuary of God.
|
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਜਗਤ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
दीना नाथ जगत पित माइआ ॥
Ḏīnā nāth jagaṯ piṯ mā▫i▫ā.
He is the Master of the meek, the father and mother of the world.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ਦੁਖ ਦਰਦ ਬਿਦਾਰਣ ॥
प्रभ दइआल दुख दरद बिदारण ॥
Parabẖ ḏa▫i▫āl ḏukẖ ḏaraḏ biḏāraṇ.
The Merciful Lord God is the Destroyer of sorrow and suffering.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਣ ॥
जिसु भावै तिस ही निसतारण ॥
Jis bẖāvai ṯis hī nisṯāraṇ.
He emancipates whoever He pleases.
|
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
अंध कूप ते काढनहारा ॥
Anḏẖ kūp ṯe kādẖaṇhārā.
He lifts them up and pulls him out of the deep dark pit.
|
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
प्रेम भगति होवत निसतारा ॥
Parem bẖagaṯ hovaṯ nisṯārā.
Emancipation comes through loving devotional worship.
|
ਸਾਧ ਰੂਪ ਅਪਨਾ ਤਨੁ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
साध रूप अपना तनु धारिआ ॥
Sāḏẖ rūp apnā ṯan ḏẖāri▫ā.
The Holy Saint is the very embodiment of the Lord's form.
|
ਮਹਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਤੇ ਆਪਿ ਉਬਾਰਿਆ ॥
महा अगनि ते आपि उबारिआ ॥
Mahā agan ṯe āp ubāri▫ā.
He Himself saves us from the great fire.
|
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
जप तप संजम इस ते किछु नाही ॥
Jap ṯap sanjam is ṯe kicẖẖ nāhī.
By myself, I cannot practice meditation, austerities, penance and self-discipline.

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਹੀ ॥
आदि अंति प्रभ अगम अगाही ॥
Āḏ anṯ parabẖ agam agāhī.
In the beginning and in the end, God is inaccessible and unfathomable.

ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਮਾਗੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
नामु देहि मागै दासु तेरा ॥
Nām ḏėh māgai ḏās ṯerā.
Please bless me with Your Name, Lord; Your slave begs only for this.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੯॥
हरि जीवन पदु नानक प्रभु मेरा ॥४॥३॥१९॥
Har jīvan paḏ Nānak parabẖ merā. ||4||3||19||
O Nanak, my Lord God is the Giver of the true state of life. ||4||3||19||

Mārū mėhlā 5.
Maaroo, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਤ ਕਉ ਡਹਕਾਵਹੁ ਲੋਗਾ ਮੋਹਨ ਦੀਨ ਕਿਰਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
कत कउ डहकावहु लोगा मोहन दीन किरपाई ॥१॥
Kaṯ ka▫o dahkāvahu logā mohan ḏīn kirpā▫ī. ||1||
Why do you try to deceive others, O people of the world? The Fascinating Lord is Merciful to the meek. ||1||
|
ਐਸੀ ਜਾਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
ऐसी जानि पाई ॥
Aisī jān pā▫ī.
This is what I have come to know.
|
ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰੋ ਗੁਰ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सरणि सूरो गुर दाता राखै आपि वडाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saraṇ sūro gur ḏāṯā rākẖai āp vadā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The brave and heroic Guru, the Generous Giver, gives Sanctuary and preserves our honor. ||1||Pause||

ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੨॥
भगता का आगिआकारी सदा सदा सुखदाई ॥२॥
Bẖagṯā kā āgi▫ākārī saḏā saḏā sukẖ▫ḏā▫ī. ||2||
He submits to the Will of His devotees; He is forever and ever the Giver of peace. ||2||
|
ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
अपने कउ किरपा करीअहु इकु नामु धिआई ॥३॥
Apne ka▫o kirpā karī▫ahu ik nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī. ||3||
Please bless me with Your Mercy, that I may meditate on Your Name alone. ||3||
|
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੀਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥੨੦॥
नानकु दीनु नामु मागै दुतीआ भरमु चुकाई ॥४॥४॥२०॥
Nānak ḏīn nām māgai ḏuṯī▫ā bẖaram cẖukā▫ī. ||4||4||20||
Nanak, the meek and humble, begs for the Naam, the Name of the Lord; it eradicates duality and doubt. ||4||4||20||

Mārū mėhlā 5.
Maaroo, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
मेरा ठाकुरु अति भारा ॥
Merā ṯẖākur aṯ bẖārā.
My Lord and Master is utterly powerful.
|
ਮੋਹਿ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
मोहि सेवकु बेचारा ॥१॥
Mohi sevak becẖārā. ||1||
I am just His poor servant. ||1||
|
ਮੋਹਨੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਾ ॥
मोहनु लालु मेरा प्रीतम मन प्राना ॥
Mohan lāl merā parīṯam man parānā.
My Enticing Beloved is very dear to my mind and my breath of life.
|
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मो कउ देहु दाना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Mo ka▫o ḏeh ḏānā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He blesses me with His gift. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਗਲੇ ਮੈ ਦੇਖੇ ਜੋਈ ॥
सगले मै देखे जोई ॥
Sagle mai ḏekẖe jo▫ī.
I have seen and tested all.
|
ਬੀਜਉ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੨॥
बीजउ अवरु न कोई ॥२॥
Bīja▫o avar na ko▫ī. ||2||
There is none other than Him. ||2||
|
ਜੀਅਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਿ ਸਮਾਹੈ ॥
जीअन प्रतिपालि समाहै ॥
Jī▫an parṯipāl samāhai.
He sustains and nurtures all beings.
|
ਹੈ ਹੋਸੀ ਆਹੇ ॥੩॥
है होसी आहे ॥३॥
Hai hosī āhe. ||3||
He was, and shall always be. ||3||
|
ਦਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਕੀਜੈ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
दइआ मोहि कीजै देवा ॥
Ḏa▫i▫ā mohi kījai ḏevā.
Please bless me with Your Mercy, O Divine Lord,
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਾਗੋ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੪॥੫॥੨੧॥
नानक लागो सेवा ॥४॥५॥२१॥
Nānak lāgo sevā. ||4||5||21||
and link Nanak to Your service. ||4||5||21||

ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲੇ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
पतित उधारन तारन बलि बलि बले बलि जाईऐ ॥
Paṯiṯ uḏẖāran ṯāran bal bal bale bal jā▫ī▫ai.
The Redeemer of sinners, who carries us across; I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice to Him.

ਐਸਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੇਟੈ ਸੰਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
ऐसा कोई भेटै संतु जितु हरि हरे हरि धिआईऐ ॥१॥
Aisā ko▫ī bẖetai sanṯ jiṯ har hare har ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai. ||1||
If only I could meet with such a Saint, who would inspire me to meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||1||
|
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥
मो कउ कोइ न जानत कहीअत दासु तुमारा ॥
Mo ka▫o ko▫e na jānaṯ kahī▫aṯ ḏās ṯumārā.
No one knows me; I am called Your slave.

ਏਹਾ ਓਟ ਆਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
एहा ओट आधारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ėhā ot āḏẖārā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
This is my support and sustenance. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਰਬ ਧਾਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰਨ ਇਕ ਬਿਨਉ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
सरब धारन प्रतिपारन इक बिनउ दीना ॥
Sarab ḏẖāran parṯipāran ik bin▫o ḏīnā.
You support and cherish all; I am meek and humble - this is my only prayer.
|
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਜਲ ਹਮ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੨॥
तुमरी बिधि तुम ही जानहु तुम जल हम मीना ॥२॥
Ŧumrī biḏẖ ṯum hī jānhu ṯum jal ham mīnā. ||2||
You alone know Your Way; You are the water, and I am the fish. ||2||
|
ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਸਥੀਰਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਹਿ ਆਇਓ ਪਾਛੈ ॥
पूरन बिसथीरन सुआमी आहि आइओ पाछै ॥
Pūran bisthīran su▫āmī āhi ā▫i▫o pācẖẖai.
O Perfect and Expansive Lord and Master, I follow You in love.

ਸਗਲੋ ਭੂ ਮੰਡਲ ਖੰਡਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਆਛੈ ॥੩॥
सगलो भू मंडल खंडल प्रभ तुम ही आछै ॥३॥
Saglo bẖū mandal kẖandal parabẖ ṯum hī ācẖẖai. ||3||
O God, You are pervading all the worlds, solar systems and galaxies. ||3||
