|
ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਨਹ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
किरतु पइआ नह मेटै कोइ ॥
Kiraṫ pa▫i▫aa nah métæ ko▫é.
Past actions cannot be erased.
|
ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਆ ਆਗੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
किआ जाणा किआ आगै होइ ॥
Ki▫aa jaaṇaa ki▫aa aagæ ho▫é.
What do we know of what will happen hereafter?
|
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਸੋਈ ਹੂਆ ॥
जो तिसु भाणा सोई हूआ ॥
Jo ṫis bʰaaṇaa so▫ee hoo▫aa.
Whatever pleases Him shall come to pass.
|
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣੈ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੂਆ ॥੧॥
अवरु न करणै वाला दूआ ॥१॥
Avar na karṇæ vaalaa ḋoo▫aa. ||1||
There is no other Doer except Him. ||1||
|
ਨਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਰਮ ਕੇਵਡ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
ना जाणा करम केवड तेरी दाति ॥
Naa jaaṇaa karam kévad ṫéree ḋaaṫ.
I do not know about karma, or how great Your gifts are.

ਕਰਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਜਾਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
करमु धरमु तेरे नाम की जाति ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Karam ḋʰaram ṫéré naam kee jaaṫ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The karma of actions, the Dharma of righteousness, social class and status, are contained within Your Name. ||1||Pause||
|
ਤੂ ਏਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
तू एवडु दाता देवणहारु ॥
Ṫoo évad ḋaaṫaa ḋévaṇhaar.
You are So Great, O Giver, O Great Giver!
|
ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
तोटि नाही तुधु भगति भंडार ॥
Ṫot naahee ṫuḋʰ bʰagaṫ bʰandaar.
The treasure of Your devotional worship is never exhausted.
|
ਕੀਆ ਗਰਬੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
कीआ गरबु न आवै रासि ॥
Kee▫aa garab na aavæ raas.
One who takes pride in himself shall never be right.
|
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
जीउ पिंडु सभु तेरै पासि ॥२॥
Jee▫o pind sabʰ ṫéræ paas. ||2||
The soul and body are all at Your disposal. ||2||
|
ਤੂ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਹਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
तू मारि जीवालहि बखसि मिलाइ ॥
Ṫoo maar jeevaalėh bakʰas milaa▫é.
You kill and rejuvenate. You forgive and merge us into Yourself.
|
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੀ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਇ ॥
जिउ भावी तिउ नामु जपाइ ॥
Ji▫o bʰaavee ṫi▫o naam japaa▫é.
As it pleases You, You inspire us to chant Your Name.
|
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੇਰੈ ॥
तूं दाना बीना साचा सिरि मेरै ॥
Ṫooⁿ ḋaanaa beenaa saachaa sir méræ.
You are All-knowing, All-seeing and True, O my Supreme Lord.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਭਰੋਸੈ ਤੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
गुरमति देइ भरोसै तेरै ॥३॥
Gurmaṫ ḋé▫é bʰarosæ ṫéræ. ||3||
Please, bless me with the Guru’s Teachings; my faith is in You alone. ||3||
|
ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
तन महि मैलु नाही मनु राता ॥
Ṫan mėh mæl naahee man raaṫaa.
One whose mind is attuned to the Lord, has no pollution in his body.
|
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
गुर बचनी सचु सबदि पछाता ॥
Gur bachnee sach sabaḋ pachʰaaṫaa.
Through the Guru’s Word, the True Shabad is realized.
|
ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
तेरा ताणु नाम की वडिआई ॥
Ṫéraa ṫaaṇ naam kee vadi▫aa▫ee.
All Power is Yours, through the greatness of Your Name.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਹਣਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
नानक रहणा भगति सरणाई ॥४॥१०॥
Naanak rahṇaa bʰagaṫ sarṇaa▫ee. ||4||10||
Nanak abides in the Sanctuary of Your devotees. ||4||10||

ਜਿਨਿ ਅਕਥੁ ਕਹਾਇਆ ਅਪਿਓ ਪੀਆਇਆ ॥
जिनि अकथु कहाइआ अपिओ पीआइआ ॥
Jin akaṫʰ kahaa▫i▫aa api▫o pee▫aa▫i▫aa.
Those who speak the Unspoken, drink the Nectar.
|
ਅਨ ਭੈ ਵਿਸਰੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
अन भै विसरे नामि समाइआ ॥१॥
An bʰæ visré naam samaa▫i▫aa. ||1||
Other fears are forgotten, and they are absorbed into the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਕਿਆ ਡਰੀਐ ਡਰੁ ਡਰਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
किआ डरीऐ डरु डरहि समाना ॥
Ki▫aa daree▫æ dar darėh samaanaa.
Why should we fear, when fear is dispelled by the Fear of God?
|
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पूरे गुर कै सबदि पछाना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pooré gur kæ sabaḋ pachʰaanaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru, I recognize God. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਰ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
जिसु नर रामु रिदै हरि रासि ॥
Jis nar raam riḋæ har raas.
Those whose hearts are filled with the Lord’s essence,
|
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
सहजि सुभाइ मिले साबासि ॥२॥
Sahj subʰaa▫é milé saabaas. ||2||
are blessed and acclaimed, and intuitively absorbed into the Lord. ||2||
|
ਜਾਹਿ ਸਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਝ ਬਿਆਲ ॥
जाहि सवारै साझ बिआल ॥
Jaahi savaaræ saajʰ bi▫aal.
Those whom the Lord puts to sleep, evening and morning -
|
ਇਤ ਉਤ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬਾਧੇ ਕਾਲ ॥੩॥
इत उत मनमुख बाधे काल ॥३॥
Iṫ uṫ manmukʰ baaḋʰé kaal. ||3||
those self-willed Manmukhs are bound and gagged by Death, here and hereafter. ||3||
|
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
अहिनिसि रामु रिदै से पूरे ॥
Ahinis raam riḋæ sé pooré.
Those whose hearts are filled with the Lord, day and night, are perfect.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਦੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
नानक राम मिले भ्रम दूरे ॥४॥११॥
Naanak raam milé bʰaram ḋooré. ||4||11||
O Nanak! They merge into the Lord, and their doubts are cast away. ||4||11||

ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੁ ॥
जनमि मरै त्रै गुण हितकारु ॥
Janam maræ ṫaræ guṇ hiṫkaar.
One who loves the three qualities is subject to birth and death.
|
ਚਾਰੇ ਬੇਦ ਕਥਹਿ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥
चारे बेद कथहि आकारु ॥
Chaaré béḋ kaṫʰėh aakaar.
The four Vedas speak only of the visible forms.
|
ਤੀਨਿ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਕਹਹਿ ਵਖਿਆਨੁ ॥
तीनि अवसथा कहहि वखिआनु ॥
Ṫeen avasṫʰaa kahėh vakʰi▫aan.
They describe and explain the three states of mind,
|
ਤੁਰੀਆਵਸਥਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
तुरीआवसथा सतिगुर ते हरि जानु ॥१॥
Ṫuree▫aavasṫʰaa saṫgur ṫé har jaan. ||1||
but the fourth state, union with the Lord, is known only through the True Guru. ||1||
|
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤਰਣਾ ॥
राम भगति गुर सेवा तरणा ॥
Raam bʰagaṫ gur sévaa ṫarṇaa.
Through devotional worship of the Lord, and service to the Guru, one swims across.
|
ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਹੈ ਮਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बाहुड़ि जनमु न होइ है मरणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Baahuṛ janam na ho▫é hæ marṇaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Then, one is not born again, and is not subject to death. ||1||Pause||
|
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
चारि पदारथ कहै सभु कोई ॥
Chaar paḋaaraṫʰ kahæ sabʰ ko▫ee.
Everyone speaks of the four great blessings;
|
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
सिंम्रिति सासत पंडित मुखि सोई ॥
Simriṫ saasaṫ pandiṫ mukʰ so▫ee.
the Smritis, the Shastras and the Pandits speak of them as well.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਅਰਥੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
बिनु गुर अरथु बीचारु न पाइआ ॥
Bin gur araṫʰ beechaar na paa▫i▫aa.
But without the Guru, they do not understand their true significance.
|
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
मुकति पदारथु भगति हरि पाइआ ॥२॥
Mukaṫ paḋaaraṫʰ bʰagaṫ har paa▫i▫aa. ||2||
The treasure of liberation is obtained through devotional worship of the Lord. ||2||
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
जा कै हिरदै वसिआ हरि सोई ॥
Jaa kæ hirḋæ vasi▫aa har so▫ee.
Those, within whose hearts the Lord dwells,
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
गुरमुखि भगति परापति होई ॥
Gurmukʰ bʰagaṫ paraapaṫ ho▫ee.
become Gurmukh; they receive the blessings of devotional worship.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ॥
हरि की भगति मुकति आनंदु ॥
Har kee bʰagaṫ mukaṫ aananḋ.
Through devotional worship of the Lord, liberation and bliss are obtained.
|
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੁ ॥੩॥
गुरमति पाए परमानंदु ॥३॥
Gurmaṫ paa▫é parmaananḋ. ||3||
Through the Guru’s Teachings, supreme ecstasy is obtained. ||3||
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
जिनि पाइआ गुरि देखि दिखाइआ ॥
Jin paa▫i▫aa gur ḋékʰ ḋikʰaa▫i▫aa.
One who meets the Guru, beholds Him, and inspires others to behold Him as well.
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਸੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥
आसा माहि निरासु बुझाइआ ॥
Aasaa maahi niraas bujʰaa▫i▫aa.
In the midst of hope, the Guru teaches us to live above hope and desire.
|
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
दीना नाथु सरब सुखदाता ॥
Ḋeenaa naaṫʰ sarab sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa.
He is the Master of the meek, the Giver of peace to all.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੧੨॥
नानक हरि चरणी मनु राता ॥४॥१२॥
Naanak har charṇee man raaṫaa. ||4||12||
Nanak’s mind is imbued with the Lotus Feet of the Lord. ||4||12||

ਗਉੜੀ ਚੇਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
गउड़ी चेती महला १ ॥

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾਇਆ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਬਾਜੀ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥
अमृत काइआ रहै सुखाली बाजी इहु संसारो ॥
Amriṫ kaa▫i▫aa rahæ sukʰaalee baajee ih sansaaro.
With your nectar-like body, you live in comfort, but this world is just a passing drama.
|
ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੁਚੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਠਾਵਹਿ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
लबु लोभु मुचु कूड़ु कमावहि बहुतु उठावहि भारो ॥
Lab lobʰ much kooṛ kamaavėh bahuṫ utʰaavėh bʰaaro.
You practice greed, avarice and great falsehood, and you carry such a heavy burden.
|
ਤੂੰ ਕਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਰੁਲਦੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਜਿਉ ਧਰ ਉਪਰਿ ਛਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
तूं काइआ मै रुलदी देखी जिउ धर उपरि छारो ॥१॥
Ṫooⁿ kaa▫i▫aa mæ rulḋee ḋékʰee ji▫o ḋʰar upar chʰaaro. ||1||
O body, I have seen you blowing away like dust on the earth. ||1||
|
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਿਖ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
सुणि सुणि सिख हमारी ॥
Suṇ suṇ sikʰ hamaaree.
Listen - listen to my advice!

ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਰਹਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सुक्रितु कीता रहसी मेरे जीअड़े बहुड़ि न आवै वारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sukariṫ keeṫaa rahsee méré jee▫aṛé bahuṛ na aavæ vaaree. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Only the good deeds which you have done shall remain with you, O my soul. This opportunity shall not come again! ||1||Pause||
