ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਸੇ ਭਲੇ ॥
प्रभ के चाकर से भले ॥
Parabʰ ké chaakar sé bʰalé.
The slaves of God are good.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪੧॥
नानक तिन मुख ऊजले ॥४॥३॥१४१॥
Naanak ṫin mukʰ oojlé. ||4||3||141||
O Nanak! Their faces are radiant. ||4||3||141||

ਜੀਅਰੇ ਓਲੑਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ॥
जीअरे ओल्हा नाम का ॥
Jee▫aré olĥaa naam kaa.
Hey, soul: your only Support is the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਅਵਰੁ ਜਿ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨੋ ਤਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਭਉ ਹੈ ਜਾਮ ਕਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अवरु जि करन करावनो तिन महि भउ है जाम का ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Avar jė karan karaavano ṫin mėh bʰa▫o hæ jaam kaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Whatever else you do or make happen, the fear of death still hangs over you. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅਵਰ ਜਤਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
अवर जतनि नही पाईऐ ॥
Avar jaṫan nahee paa▫ee▫æ.
He is not obtained by any other efforts.
|
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
वडै भागि हरि धिआईऐ ॥१॥
vadæ bʰaag har ḋʰi▫aa▫ee▫æ. ||1||
By great good fortune, meditate on the Lord. ||1||
|
ਲਾਖ ਹਿਕਮਤੀ ਜਾਨੀਐ ॥
लाख हिकमती जानीऐ ॥
Laakʰ hikmaṫee jaanee▫æ.
You may know hundreds of thousands of clever tricks,
|
ਆਗੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥੨॥
आगै तिलु नही मानीऐ ॥२॥
Aagæ ṫil nahee maanee▫æ. ||2||
but not even one will be of any use at all hereafter. ||2||
|
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਨੇ ॥
अह्मबुधि करम कमावने ॥
Ahaⁿ▫buḋʰ karam kamaavané.
Good deeds done in the pride of ego,
|
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਾਲੂ ਨੀਰਿ ਬਹਾਵਨੇ ॥੩॥
ग्रिह बालू नीरि बहावने ॥३॥
Garih baaloo neer bahaavané. ||3||
are swept away, like the house of sand by water. ||3||
|
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
प्रभु क्रिपालु किरपा करै ॥
Parabʰ kirpaal kirpaa karæ.
When God the Merciful shows His Mercy,
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੪੨॥
नामु नानक साधू संगि मिलै ॥४॥४॥१४२॥
Naam Naanak saaḋʰoo sang milæ. ||4||4||142||
Nanak receives the Naam in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||4||4||142||

ਬਾਰਨੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਨੈ ਲਖ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
बारनै बलिहारनै लख बरीआ ॥
Baarnæ balihaarnæ lakʰ baree▫aa.
I am a sacrifice, dedicated hundreds of thousands of times, to my Lord and Master.

ਨਾਮੋ ਹੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नामो हो नामु साहिब को प्रान अधरीआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Naamo ho naam saahib ko paraan aḋʰree▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
His Name, and His Name alone, is the Support of the breath of life. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਤੁਹੀ ਏਕ ॥
करन करावन तुही एक ॥
Karan karaavan ṫuhee ék.
You alone are the Doer, the Cause of all causes.
|
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਟੇਕ ॥੧॥
जीअ जंत की तुही टेक ॥१॥
Jee▫a janṫ kee ṫuhee ték. ||1||
You are the Support of all beings and creatures. ||1||
|
ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੂੰ ਧਨੀ ॥
राज जोबन प्रभ तूं धनी ॥
Raaj joban parabʰ ṫooⁿ ḋʰanee.
O God, You are my power, authority and youth.
|
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਤੂੰ ਸਰਗੁਨੀ ॥੨॥
तूं निरगुन तूं सरगुनी ॥२॥
Ṫooⁿ nirgun ṫooⁿ sargunee. ||2||
You are absolute, without attributes, and also related, with the most sublime attributes. ||2||
|
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤੁਮ ਰਖੇ ॥
ईहा ऊहा तुम रखे ॥
Eehaa oohaa ṫum rakʰé.
Here and hereafter, You are my Savior and Protector.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਕੋ ਲਖੇ ॥੩॥
गुर किरपा ते को लखे ॥३॥
Gur kirpaa ṫé ko lakʰé. ||3||
By Guru’s Grace, some understand You. ||3||
|
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ॥
अंतरजामी प्रभ सुजानु ॥
Anṫarjaamee parabʰ sujaan.
God is All-knowing, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਕੀਆ ਤੁਹੀ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪੩॥
नानक तकीआ तुही ताणु ॥४॥५॥१४३॥
Naanak ṫakee▫aa ṫuhee ṫaaṇ. ||4||5||143||
You are Nanak’s strength and support. ||4||5||143||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ॥

Har har har aaraaḋʰee▫æ.
Worship and adore the Lord, Har, Har, Har.
|
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਭਉ ਸਾਧੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
संतसंगि हरि मनि वसै भरमु मोहु भउ साधीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saṫsang har man vasæ bʰaram moh bʰa▫o saaḋʰee▫æ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
In the Society of the Saints, He dwells in the mind; doubt, emotional attachment and fear are vanquished. ||1||Pause||
|
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਭਨੇ ॥
बेद पुराण सिम्रिति भने ॥
Béḋ puraaṇ simriṫ bʰané.
The Vedas, the Puranas and the Smritis are heard to proclaim
|
ਸਭ ਊਚ ਬਿਰਾਜਿਤ ਜਨ ਸੁਨੇ ॥੧॥
सभ ऊच बिराजित जन सुने ॥१॥
Sabʰ ooch biraajiṫ jan suné. ||1||
that the Lord’s servant dwells as the highest of all. ||1||
|
ਸਗਲ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਭੈ ਭੀਤ ਚੀਨ ॥
सगल असथान भै भीत चीन ॥
Sagal asṫʰaan bʰæ bʰeeṫ cheen.
All places are filled with fear - know this well.
|
ਰਾਮ ਸੇਵਕ ਭੈ ਰਹਤ ਕੀਨ ॥੨॥
राम सेवक भै रहत कीन ॥२॥
Raam sévak bʰæ rahaṫ keen. ||2||
Only the Lord’s servants are free of fear. ||2||
|
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ॥
लख चउरासीह जोनि फिरहि ॥
Lakʰ cha▫oraaseeh jon firėh.
People wander through 8.4 million incarnations.
|
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਲੋਕ ਨਹੀ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰਹਿ ॥੩॥
गोबिंद लोक नही जनमि मरहि ॥३॥
Gobinḋ lok nahee janam marėh. ||3||
God’s people are not subject to birth and death. ||3||
|
ਬਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਹਉਮੈ ਰਹੀ ॥
बल बुधि सिआनप हउमै रही ॥
Bal buḋʰ si▫aanap ha▫umæ rahee.
Power, wisdom, cleverness and egotism are given up,
|
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਹੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੪੪॥
हरि साध सरणि नानक गही ॥४॥६॥१४४॥
Har saaḋʰ saraṇ Naanak gahee. ||4||6||144||
by Nanak as he has taken the Sanctuary of the Lord’s Holy Saints. ||4||6||144||

ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
मन राम नाम गुन गाईऐ ॥
Man raam naam gun gaa▫ee▫æ.
O my mind! Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name.
|
ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नीत नीत हरि सेवीऐ सासि सासि हरि धिआईऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Neeṫ neeṫ har sévee▫æ saas saas har ḋʰi▫aa▫ee▫æ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Serve the Lord continually and continuously; with each and every breath, meditate on the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥
संतसंगि हरि मनि वसै ॥
Saṫsang har man vasæ.
In the Society of the Saints, the Lord dwells in the mind,
|
ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਅਨੇਰਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਨਸੈ ॥੧॥
दुखु दरदु अनेरा भ्रमु नसै ॥१॥
Ḋukʰ ḋaraḋ anéraa bʰaram nasæ. ||1||
and pain, suffering, darkness and doubt depart. ||1||
|
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥
संत प्रसादि हरि जापीऐ ॥
Sanṫ parsaaḋ har jaapee▫æ.
One who meditates on the Lord, by the Grace of the Saints,
|
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਦੂਖਿ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੀਐ ॥੨॥
सो जनु दूखि न विआपीऐ ॥२॥
So jan ḋookʰ na vi▫aapee▫æ. ||2||
that humble being is not afflicted with pain. ||2||
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੇ ॥
जा कउ गुरु हरि मंत्रु दे ॥
Jaa ka▫o gur har manṫar ḋé.
Those unto whom the Guru gives the Mantra of the Lord’s Name,
|
ਸੋ ਉਬਰਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਤੇ ॥੩॥
सो उबरिआ माइआ अगनि ते ॥३॥
So ubri▫aa maa▫i▫aa agan ṫé. ||3||
are saved from the fire of Maya. ||3||
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ਕਰਿ ॥
नानक कउ प्रभ मइआ करि ॥
Naanak ka▫o parabʰ ma▫i▫aa kar.
Be kind to Nanak! O God;
|
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਾਸੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੪੫॥
मेरै मनि तनि वासै नामु हरि ॥४॥७॥१४५॥
Méræ man ṫan vaasæ naam har. ||4||7||145||
let the Lord’s Name dwell within my mind and body. ||4||7||145||
|

ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪੀਐ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮ ॥
रसना जपीऐ एकु नाम ॥
Rasnaa japee▫æ ék naam.
With your tongue, chant the Name of the One Lord.
|
ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਘਨਾ ਆਗੈ ਜੀਅ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ईहा सुखु आनंदु घना आगै जीअ कै संगि काम ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Eehaa sukʰ aananḋ gʰanaa aagæ jee▫a kæ sang kaam. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
In this world, it shall bring you peace, comfort and great joy; hereafter, it shall go with your soul, and shall be of use to you. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਟੀਐ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਹੰ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
कटीऐ तेरा अहं रोगु ॥
Katee▫æ ṫéraa ahaⁿ rog.
The disease of your ego shall be eradicated.
|
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੧॥
तूं गुर प्रसादि करि राज जोगु ॥१॥
Ṫooⁿ gur parsaaḋ kar raaj jog. ||1||
By Guru’s Grace, practice Raja Yoga, the Yoga of meditation and success. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
हरि रसु जिनि जनि चाखिआ ॥
Har ras jin jan chaakʰi▫aa.
Those who taste the sublime essence of the Lord
|
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਲਾਥੀਆ ॥੨॥
ता की त्रिसना लाथीआ ॥२॥
Ṫaa kee ṫarisnaa laaṫʰee▫aa. ||2||
have their thirst quenched. ||2||
|
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
हरि बिस्राम निधि पाइआ ॥
Har bisraam niḋʰ paa▫i▫aa.
Those who have found the Lord, the Treasure of peace,
|
ਸੋ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਧਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
सो बहुरि न कत ही धाइआ ॥३॥
So bahur na kaṫ hee ḋʰaa▫i▫aa. ||3||
shall not go anywhere else again. ||3||
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥
हरि हरि नामु जा कउ गुरि दीआ ॥
Har har naam jaa ka▫o gur ḋee▫aa.
Those, unto whom the Guru has given the Lord’s Name, Har, Har -
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੪੬॥
नानक ता का भउ गइआ ॥४॥८॥१४६॥
Naanak ṫaa kaa bʰa▫o ga▫i▫aa. ||4||8||146||
O Nanak! Their fears are removed. ||4||8||146||
