Jin gur mo ka▫o ḋeenaa jee▫o.
The Guru who gave me my soul,
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਿੰਦ ਜਾਨ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,

Aapunaa ḋaasraa aapé mul lee▫o. ||6||
has Himself purchased me, and made me His slave. ||6||
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਖਰੀਦ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Aapé laa▫i▫o apnaa pi▫aar.
He Himself has blessed me with His Love.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਖ਼ੁਦ-ਬ-ਖ਼ੁਦ ਮੇਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦਿਤੀ ਹੈ।

Saḋaa saḋaa ṫis gur ka▫o karee namaskaar. ||7||
Forever and ever, I humbly bow to the Guru. ||7||
ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Kal kalés bʰæ bʰaram ḋukʰ laaṫʰaa.
My troubles, conflicts, fears, doubts and pains have been dispelled;
ਮੇਰੀ ਕਲਪਣਾ, ਝੇੜਾ, ਡਰ, ਸੰਦੇਹ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਆਰਾਮੀ ਮੁਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

says Nanak, my Guru is All-powerful. ||8||9||

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼।

Naam binaa ḋʰarig ḋʰarig asnéhu. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, cursed, cursed is love and intimacy. ||1||Pause||
ਲਾਨ੍ਹਤ ਅਤੇ ਫਿੱਟੇ-ਮੂੰਹ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੇ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੇਰ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Naam binaa jo pahiræ kʰaa▫é.
Without the Naam, one who dresses and eats well
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਹਿਨਦਾ ਤੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,।

Ji▫o kookar jootʰan mėh paa▫é. ||1||
is like a dog, who falls in and eats impure foods. ||1||
ਉਹ ਉਸ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਦੀ ਮਾਨੰਦ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜੂਠੀਆਂ ਪੱਤਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

Naam binaa jéṫaa bi▫uhaar.
Without the Naam, all occupations are useless,
ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਇੰਜ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ,

Ji▫o mirṫak miṫʰi▫aa seegaar. ||2||
like the decorations on a dead body. ||2||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੋਥ ਉਤੇ ਹਾਰ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ

Naam bisaar karé ras bʰog.
One who forgets the Naam and indulges in pleasures,
ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਰਲੀਆਂ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
|
Sukʰ supnæ nahee ṫan mėh rog. ||3||
shall find no peace, even in dreams; his body shall become diseased. ||3||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਰੋਗੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Naam ṫi▫aag karé an kaaj.
One who renounces the Naam and engages in other occupations,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੋਰ ਧੰਦੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,।

Binas jaa▫é jʰootʰé sabʰ paaj. ||4||
shall see all of his false pretenses fall away. ||4||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੂੜੀ ਲਿਟਸਾਜੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

Naam sang man pareeṫ na laavæ.
One whose mind does not embrace love for the Naam
ਇਨਸਾਨ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਨੇਹੁੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਗੰਢਦਾ ਦੋਜ਼ਕ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

Kot karam karṫo narak jaavæ. ||5||
shall go to hell, even though he may perform millions of ceremonial rituals. ||5||
ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡ ਪਿਆ ਕਰੇ।

Har kaa naam jin man na aaraaḋʰaa.
One whose mind does not contemplate the Name of the Lord
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,

Chor kee ni▫aa▫ee jam pur baaḋʰaa. ||6||
is bound like a thief, in the City of Death. ||6||
ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਤਸਕਰ ਦੀ ਮਾਨੰਦ ਨਰੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Laakʰ adambar bahuṫ bisṫʰaaraa.
Hundreds of thousands of ostentatious shows and great expanses -
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਨੁਮਾਇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਰੇ।

Naam binaa jʰootʰé paasaaraa. ||7||
without the Naam, all these displays are false. ||7||
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਕੂੜੇ ਹਨ ਦਿਖਾਵੇ।

Har kaa naam so▫ee jan lé▫é.
That humble being repeats the Name of the Lord,
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

Kar kirpaa Naanak jis ḋé▫é. ||8||10||
O Nanak! Whom the Lord blesses with His Mercy. ||8||10||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Aaḋ maḋʰ jo anṫ nibaahæ.
The one who shall stand by me in the beginning, in the middle and in the end,
ਜੋ ਆਰੰਭ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੱਖ ਪੂਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

So saajan méraa man chaahæ. ||1||
my mind longs for that Friend. ||1||
ਉਸ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਲੋੜਦੀ ਹੈ।

Har kee pareeṫ saḋaa sang chaalæ.
The Lord’s Love goes with us forever.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ, ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਥ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Ḋa▫i▫aal purakʰ pooran paraṫipaalæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Perfect and Merciful Lord cherishes all. ||1||Pause||
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਮਾਲਕ, ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਪੋਸਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Binsaṫ naahee chʰod na jaa▫é.
He shall never perish, and He shall never abandon me.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।

Jah pékʰaa ṫah rahi▫aa samaa▫é. ||2||
Wherever I look, there I see Him pervading and permeating. ||2||
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਥੇ ਉਹ ਰਮ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

Sunḋar sugʰaṛ chaṫur jee▫a ḋaaṫaa.
He is Beautiful, All-knowing, the most Clever, the Giver of life.
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੁਹਣਾ, ਸਿਆਣਾ, ਤੇਜ਼ ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਦੇਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

Bʰaa▫ee pooṫ piṫaa parabʰ maaṫaa. ||3||
God is my Brother, Son, Father and Mother. ||3||
ਮਾਲਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਵੀਰ, ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ, ਬਾਬਲ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਮੜੀ ਹੈ।

Jeevan paraan aḋʰaar méree raas.
He is the Support of the breath of life; He is my Wealth.
ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ।

Pareeṫ laa▫ee kar riḋæ nivaas. ||4||
Abiding within my heart, He inspires me to enshrine love for Him. ||4||
ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਵਾਸਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ।

Maa▫i▫aa silak kaatee gopaal.
The Lord of the World has cut away the noose of Maya.
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੀ ਹੈ।

Kar apunaa leeno naḋar nihaal. ||5||
He has made me His own, blessing me with His Glance of Grace. ||5||
ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਝਾਕ ਕੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿੱਜ ਦਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Simar simar kaaté sabʰ rog.
Remembering and remembering Him in meditation, all diseases are healed.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜਹਿਮਤਾ ਟਲ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।

Charaṇ ḋʰi▫aan sarab sukʰ bʰog. ||6||
Meditating on His Feet, all comforts are enjoyed. ||6||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ, ਸਾਰੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਮਾਣ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Pooran purakʰ navṫan niṫ baalaa.
The Perfect Primal Lord is Ever-fresh and Ever-young.
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਨਵਾਂਨੁੱਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਜੁਆਨ ਹੈ।

Har anṫar baahar sang rakʰvaalaa. ||7||
The Lord is with me, inwardly and outwardly, as my Protector. ||7||
ਅੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।

Says Nanak, that devotee who realizes the state of the Lord, Har, Har,
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮਰਤਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

Sarbas naam bʰagaṫ ka▫o ḋeen. ||8||11||
is blessed with the treasure of the Naam. ||8||11||
ਉਹ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੌਲਤ ਵਜੋ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Kʰojaṫ firé asaⁿkʰ anṫ na paaree▫aa.
Countless are those who wander around searching for You, but they do not find Your limits.
ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਓੜਕ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ।

Sé▫ee ho▫é bʰagaṫ jinaa kirpaaree▫aa. ||1||
They alone are Your devotees, who are blessed by Your Grace. ||1||
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੈ।

I am a sacrifice, I am a sacrifice to You. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Suṇ suṇ panṫʰ daraa▫o bahuṫ bʰæhaaree▫aa.
Continually hearing of the terrifying path, I am so afraid.
ਭਿਆਨਕ ਮਾਰਗ ਬਾਰੇ, ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਅਤੀ ਭੈ-ਭੀਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ।

Mæ ṫakee ot sanṫaah lého ubaaree▫aa. ||2||
I have sought the Protection of the Saints; please, save me! ||2||
ਮੈਂ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਹੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰ।
