ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਲਾਗੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥
जिसु भेटत लागै प्रभ रंगु ॥१॥
Jis bʰétaṫ laagæ parabʰ rang. ||1||
Meeting with them, love for God is embraced. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਓਇ ਆਨੰਦ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
गुर प्रसादि ओइ आनंद पावै ॥
Gur parsaaḋ o▫é aananḋ paavæ.
By Guru’s Grace, bliss is obtained.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जिसु सिमरत मनि होइ प्रगासा ता की गति मिति कहनु न जावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jis simraṫ man ho▫é pargaasaa ṫaa kee gaṫ miṫ kahan na jaavæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Meditating upon Him in remembrance, the mind is illuminated; his state and condition cannot be described. ||1||Pause||

ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਮਜਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
वरत नेम मजन तिसु पूजा ॥
varaṫ ném majan ṫis poojaa.
Fasts, religious vows, cleansing baths, and worship to Him;
|
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸੁਨੀਜਾ ॥
बेद पुरान तिनि सिंम्रिति सुनीजा ॥
Béḋ puraan ṫin simriṫ suneejaa.
listening to the Vedas, Puranas, and Shastras.

ਮਹਾ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
महा पुनीत जा का निरमल थानु ॥
Mahaa puneeṫ jaa kaa nirmal ṫʰaan.
Extremely pure is he, and immaculate is his place,
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥
साधसंगति जा कै हरि हरि नामु ॥२॥
Saaḋʰsangaṫ jaa kæ har har naam. ||2||
who meditates upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in the Saadh Sangat. ||2||
|
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਗਲੇ ਭਵਨ ॥
प्रगटिओ सो जनु सगले भवन ॥
Pargati▫o so jan saglé bʰavan.
That humble being becomes renowned all over the world.
|
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪਗ ਰੇਨ ॥
पतित पुनीत ता की पग रेन ॥
Paṫiṫ puneeṫ ṫaa kee pag rén.
Even sinners are purified, by the dust of His feet.
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
जा कउ भेटिओ हरि हरि राइ ॥
Jaa ka▫o bʰéti▫o har har raa▫é.
One who has met the Lord, the Lord our King,
|
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
ता की गति मिति कथनु न जाइ ॥३॥
Ṫaa kee gaṫ miṫ kaṫʰan na jaa▫é. ||3||
his condition and state cannot be described. ||3||
|
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
आठ पहर कर जोड़ि धिआवउ ॥
Aatʰ pahar kar joṛ ḋʰi▫aava▫o.
Twenty-four hours a day, with palms pressed together, I meditate;

ਉਨ ਸਾਧਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥
उन साधा का दरसनु पावउ ॥
Un saaḋʰaa kaa ḋarsan paava▫o.
I yearn to obtain the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of those Holy Saints.

ਮੋਹਿ ਗਰੀਬ ਕਉ ਲੇਹੁ ਰਲਾਇ ॥
मोहि गरीब कउ लेहु रलाइ ॥
Mohi gareeb ka▫o lého ralaa▫é.
Merge me, the poor one, with You, O Lord;
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਇ ਪਏ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੮੯॥
नानक आइ पए सरणाइ ॥४॥३८॥८९॥
Naanak aa▫é pa▫é sarṇaa▫é. ||4||38||89||
Nanak has come to Your Sanctuary. ||4||38||89||

Aasaa mėhlaa 5.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਉਦਕ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ॥
आठ पहर उदक इसनानी ॥
Aatʰ pahar uḋak isnaanee.
Twenty-four hours a day, he takes his cleansing bath in water;
|
ਸਦ ਹੀ ਭੋਗੁ ਲਗਾਇ ਸੁਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
सद ही भोगु लगाइ सुगिआनी ॥
Saḋ hee bʰog lagaa▫é sugi▫aanee.
he makes continual offerings to the Lord; he is a true man of wisdom.
|
ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਾਹੂ ਛੋਡੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
बिरथा काहू छोडै नाही ॥
Birṫʰaa kaahoo chʰodæ naahee.
He never leaves anything uselessly.
|
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਹ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
बहुरि बहुरि तिसु लागह पाई ॥१॥
Bahur bahur ṫis laagah paa▫ee. ||1||
Again and again, he falls at the Lord’s Feet. ||1||
|
ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
सालगिरामु हमारै सेवा ॥
Saalgiraam hamaaræ sévaa.
Such is the SaalagRam, the stone idol, which I serve;
|
ਪੂਜਾ ਅਰਚਾ ਬੰਦਨ ਦੇਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पूजा अरचा बंदन देवा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Poojaa archaa banḋan ḋévaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
such is my worship, flower-offerings and divine adoration as well. ||1||Pause||
|
ਘੰਟਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ॥
घंटा जा का सुनीऐ चहु कुंट ॥
Gʰantaa jaa kaa sunee▫æ chahu kunt.
His bell resounds to the four corners of the world.
|
ਆਸਨੁ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ॥
आसनु जा का सदा बैकुंठ ॥
Aasan jaa kaa saḋaa bækuntʰ.
His seat is forever in heaven.
|
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਚਵਰੁ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਝੂਲੈ ॥
जा का चवरु सभ ऊपरि झूलै ॥
Jaa kaa chavar sabʰ oopar jʰoolæ.
His chauri, his fly-brush, waves over all.
|
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਧੂਪੁ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਫੁਲੈ ॥੨॥
ता का धूपु सदा परफुलै ॥२॥
Ṫaa kaa ḋʰoop saḋaa parfulæ. ||2||
His incense is ever-fragrant. ||2||
|
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸੰਪਟੁ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਜਾ ਕਾ ॥
घटि घटि स्मपटु है रे जा का ॥
Gʰat gʰat sampat hæ ré jaa kaa.
He is treasured in each and every heart.
|
ਅਭਗ ਸਭਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੈ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
अभग सभा संगि है साधा ॥
Abʰag sabʰaa sang hæ saaḋʰaa.
The Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is His Eternal Court.
|
ਆਰਤੀ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
आरती कीरतनु सदा अनंद ॥
Aarṫee keerṫan saḋaa anand.
His Aartee, his lamp-lit worship service, is the Kirtan of His Praises, which brings lasting bliss.
|
ਮਹਿਮਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ॥੩॥
महिमा सुंदर सदा बेअंत ॥३॥
Mahimaa sunḋar saḋaa bé▫anṫ. ||3||
His Greatness is so beautiful, and ever limitless. ||3||
|
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਲਹਨਾ ॥
जिसहि परापति तिस ही लहना ॥
Jisahi paraapaṫ ṫis hee lahnaa.
He alone obtains it, who is so preordained;
|
ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨ ਓਹੁ ਆਇਓ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
संत चरन ओहु आइओ सरना ॥
Sanṫ charan oh aa▫i▫o sarnaa.
he takes to the Sanctuary of the Saints’ Feet.
|
ਹਾਥਿ ਚੜਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮੁ ॥
हाथि चड़िओ हरि सालगिरामु ॥
Haaṫʰ chaṛi▫o har saalgiraam.
I hold in my hands the SaalagRam of the Lord.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੯੦॥
कहु नानक गुरि कीनो दानु ॥४॥३९॥९०॥
Kaho Naanak gur keeno ḋaan. ||4||39||90||
Says Nanak, the Guru has given me this Gift. ||4||39||90||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਪੰਚਪਦਾ ॥
आसा महला ५ पंचपदा₁ ॥
Aasaa mėhlaa 5 panchpaḋaa.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl, Panch-Pada:
|
ਜਿਹ ਪੈਡੈ ਲੂਟੀ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
जिह पैडै लूटी पनिहारी ॥
Jih pædæ lootee panihaaree.
That highway, upon which the water-carrier is plundered -
|
ਸੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਦੂਰਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
सो मारगु संतन दूरारी ॥१॥
So maarag sanṫan ḋooraaree. ||1||
that way is far removed from the Saints. ||1||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
सतिगुर पूरै साचु कहिआ ॥
Saṫgur pooræ saach kahi▫aa.
The True Guru has spoken the Truth.
|
ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਬੀਥੀ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नाम तेरे की मुकते बीथी जम का मारगु दूरि रहिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Naam ṫéré kee mukṫé beeṫʰee jam kaa maarag ḋoor rahi▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Your Name, O Lord, is the Way to Salvation; the road of the Messenger of Death is far away. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਹ ਲਾਲਚ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਘਾਟ ॥
जह लालच जागाती घाट ॥
Jah laalach jaagaaṫee gʰaat.
That place, where the greedy toll-collector dwells -
|
ਦੂਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਉਹ ਜਨ ਤੇ ਬਾਟ ॥੨॥
दूरि रही उह जन ते बाट ॥२॥
Ḋoor rahee uh jan ṫé baat. ||2||
that path remains far removed from the Lord’s humble servant. ||2||
|
ਜਹ ਆਵਟੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਨ ਸਾਥ ॥
जह आवटे बहुत घन साथ ॥
Jah aavté bahuṫ gʰan saaṫʰ.
There, where so very many caravans of men are caught,
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਾਧ ॥੩॥
पारब्रहम के संगी साध ॥३॥
Paarbarahm ké sangee saaḋʰ. ||3||
the Holy Saints remain with the Supreme Lord. ||3||
|
ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਸਭ ਲਿਖਤੇ ਲੇਖਾ ॥
चित्र गुपतु सभ लिखते लेखा ॥
Chiṫar gupaṫ sabʰ likʰ▫ṫé lékʰaa.
Chitra and Gupat, the recording angels of the conscious and the unconscious, write the accounts of all mortal beings,
|
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਪੇਖਾ ॥੪॥
भगत जना कउ द्रिसटि न पेखा ॥४॥
Bʰagaṫ janaa ka▫o ḋarisat na pékʰaa. ||4||
but they cannot even see the Lord’s humble devotees. ||4||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
कहु नानक जिसु सतिगुरु पूरा ॥
Kaho Naanak jis saṫgur pooraa.
Says Nanak, one whose True Guru is Perfect -

ਵਾਜੇ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰਾ ॥੫॥੪੦॥੯੧॥
वाजे ता कै अनहद तूरा ॥५॥४०॥९१॥
vaajé ṫaa kæ anhaḋ ṫooraa. ||5||40||91||
the unblown bugles of ecstasy vibrate for him. ||5||40||91||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਦੁਪਦਾ ੧ ॥
आसा महला ५ दुपदा १ ॥
Aasaa mėhlaa 5 ḋupḋaa 1.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl, Du-Pada 1:
|
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਿਖਾਇਓ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
साधू संगि सिखाइओ नामु ॥
Saaḋʰoo sang sikʰaa▫i▫o naam.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Naam is learned;
|
ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥
सरब मनोरथ पूरन काम ॥
Sarab manoraṫʰ pooran kaam.
all desires and tasks are fulfilled.
|
ਬੁਝਿ ਗਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸਹਿ ਅਘਾਨੇ ॥
बुझि गई त्रिसना हरि जसहि अघाने ॥
Bujʰ ga▫ee ṫarisnaa har jasėh agʰaané.
My thirst has been quenched, and I am satiated with the Lord’s Praise.

ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੇ ॥੧॥
जपि जपि जीवा सारिगपाने ॥१॥
Jap jap jeevaa saarigpaané. ||1||
I live by chanting and meditating upon the Lord, the Sustainer of the earth. ||1||
|
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥
करन करावन सरनि परिआ ॥
Karan karaavan saran pari▫aa.
I have entered the Sanctuary of the Creator, the Cause of all causes.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਹਜ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਚੰਦੁ ਚੜਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर परसादि सहज घरु पाइआ मिटिआ अंधेरा चंदु चड़िआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur parsaaḋ sahj gʰar paa▫i▫aa miti▫aa anḋʰéraa chanḋ chaṛi▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
By Guru’s Grace, I have entered the home of celestial bliss. Darkness is dispelled, and the moon of wisdom has risen. ||1||Pause||
