ਸਹਜੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
सहजे नामु धिआईऐ गिआनु परगटु होइ ॥१॥
Sėhjé naam ḋʰi▫aa▫ee▫æ gi▫aan pargat ho▫é. ||1||
Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, with intuitive ease and poise, spiritual wisdom is revealed. ||1||

ਏ ਮਨ ਮਤ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਵੇਖੁ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
ए मन मत जाणहि हरि दूरि है सदा वेखु हदूरि ॥
É man maṫ jaaṇėh har ḋoor hæ saḋaa vékʰ haḋoor.
O my mind! Do not think of the Lord as being far away; behold Him ever close at hand.

ਸਦ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਸਦ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सद सुणदा सद वेखदा सबदि रहिआ भरपूरि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saḋ suṇḋaa saḋ vékʰ▫ḋaa sabaḋ rahi▫aa bʰarpoor. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
He is always listening, and always watching over us; the Word of His Shabad is all-pervading everywhere. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਤਿਨੑੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
गुरमुखि आपु पछाणिआ तिन्ही इक मनि धिआइआ ॥
Gurmukʰ aap pachʰaaṇi▫aa ṫinĥee ik man ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa.
The Gurmukhs understand their own selves; they meditate single-mindedly on the Lord.

ਸਦਾ ਰਵਹਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
सदा रवहि पिरु आपणा सचै नामि सुखु पाइआ ॥२॥
Saḋaa ravėh pir aapṇaa sachæ naam sukʰ paa▫i▫aa. ||2||
They enjoy their Husband Lord continually; through the True Name, they find peace. ||2||
|
ਏ ਮਨ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
ए मन तेरा को नही करि वेखु सबदि वीचारु ॥
É man ṫéraa ko nahee kar vékʰ sabaḋ veechaar.
O my mind! No one belongs to you; contemplate the Shabad, and see this.

ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਪਉ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੩॥
हरि सरणाई भजि पउ पाइहि मोख दुआरु ॥३॥
Har sarṇaa▫ee bʰaj pa▫o paa▫ihi mokʰ ḋu▫aar. ||3||
So, run to the Lord’s Sanctuary, and find the gate of salvation. ||3||
|
ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
सबदि सुणीऐ सबदि बुझीऐ सचि रहै लिव लाइ ॥
Sabaḋ suṇee▫æ sabaḋ bujʰee▫æ sach rahæ liv laa▫é.
Listen to the Shabad, and understand the Shabad, and lovingly focus your consciousness on the True One.

ਸਬਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀਐ ਸਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥
सबदे हउमै मारीऐ सचै महलि सुखु पाइ ॥४॥
Sabḋé ha▫umæ maaree▫æ sachæ mahal sukʰ paa▫é. ||4||
Through the Shabad, conquer your ego, and in the True Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, you shall find peace. ||4||

ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੋਭ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
इसु जुग महि सोभा नाम की बिनु नावै सोभ न होइ ॥
Is jug mėh sobʰaa naam kee bin naavæ sobʰ na ho▫é.
In this age, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is glory; without the Name, there is no glory.

ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਚਾਰਿ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਜਾਦੀ ਬਿਲਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥
इह माइआ की सोभा चारि दिहाड़े जादी बिलमु न होइ ॥५॥
Ih maa▫i▫aa kee sobʰaa chaar ḋihaaṛé jaaḋee bilam na ho▫é. ||5||
The glory of this Maya lasts for only a few days; it disappears in an instant. ||5||
|
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਮੁਏ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
जिनी नामु विसारिआ से मुए मरि जाहि ॥
Jinee naam visaari▫aa sé mu▫é mar jaahi.
Those who forget the Naam are already dead, and they continue dying.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੬॥
हरि रस सादु न आइओ बिसटा माहि समाहि ॥६॥
Har ras saaḋ na aa▫i▫o bistaa maahi samaahi. ||6||
They do not enjoy the sublime essence of the Lord’s taste; they sink into the manure. ||6||
|
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਾਇ ॥
इकि आपे बखसि मिलाइअनु अनदिनु नामे लाइ ॥
Ik aapé bakʰas milaa▫i▫an an▫ḋin naamé laa▫é.
Some are forgiven by the Lord; He unites them with Himself, and keeps them attached to the Naam, night and day.

ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੭॥
सचु कमावहि सचि रहहि सचे सचि समाहि ॥७॥
Sach kamaavėh sach rahėh saché sach samaahi. ||7||
They practice Truth, and abide in Truth; being truthful, they merge into Truth. ||7||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਨ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਜਗੁ ਬੋਲਾ ਅੰਨੑਾ ਭਰਮਾਇ ॥
बिनु सबदै सुणीऐ न देखीऐ जगु बोला अंन्हा भरमाइ ॥
Bin sabḋæ suṇee▫æ na ḋékʰee▫æ jag bolaa anĥaa bʰarmaa▫é.
Without the Shabad, the world does not hear, and does not see; deaf and blind, it wanders around.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਸੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੮॥
बिनु नावै दुखु पाइसी नामु मिलै तिसै रजाइ ॥८॥
Bin naavæ ḋukʰ paa▫isee naam milæ ṫisæ rajaa▫é. ||8||
Without the Naam, it obtains only misery; the Naam is received only by His Will. ||8||
|
ਜਿਨ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
जिन बाणी सिउ चितु लाइआ से जन निरमल परवाणु ॥
Jin baṇee si▫o chiṫ laa▫i▫aa sé jan nirmal parvaaṇ.
Those persons who link their consciousness with the Word of His Bani, are immaculately pure, and approved by the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੯॥੧੩॥੩੫॥
नानक नामु तिन्हा कदे न वीसरै से दरि सचे जाणु ॥९॥१३॥३५॥
Naanak naam ṫinĥaa kaḋé na veesræ sé ḋar saché jaaṇ. ||9||13||35||
O Nanak! They never forget the Naam, and in the Court of the Lord, they are known as true. ||9||13||35||

ਸਬਦੌ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਜਿਨੑ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
सबदौ ही भगत जापदे जिन्ह की बाणी सची होइ ॥
Sabḋou hee bʰagaṫ jaapḋé jinĥ kee baṇee sachee ho▫é.
Through the Word of the Shabad, the devotees are known; their words are true.

ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਨਾਉ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
विचहु आपु गइआ नाउ मंनिआ सचि मिलावा होइ ॥१॥
vichahu aap ga▫i▫aa naa▫o mani▫aa sach milaavaa ho▫é. ||1||
They eradicate ego from within themselves; they surrender to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and meet with the True One. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
हरि हरि नामु जन की पति होइ ॥
Har har naam jan kee paṫ ho▫é.
Through the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, His humble servants obtain honor.

ਸਫਲੁ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਕਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨੑ ਮਾਨੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सफलु तिन्हा का जनमु है तिन्ह मानै सभु कोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Safal ṫinĥaa kaa janam hæ ṫinĥ maanæ sabʰ ko▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
How blessed is their coming into the world! Everyone adores them. ||1||Pause||

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
हउमै मेरा जाति है अति क्रोधु अभिमानु ॥
Ha▫umæ méraa jaaṫ hæ aṫ kroḋʰ abʰimaan.
Ego, self-centeredness, excessive anger and pride are the lot of mankind.

ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਜਾਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
सबदि मरै ता जाति जाइ जोती जोति मिलै भगवानु ॥२॥
Sabaḋ maræ ṫaa jaaṫ jaa▫é joṫee joṫ milæ bʰagvaan. ||2||
If one dies in the Word of the Shabad, then he is rid of this, and his light is merged into the Light of the Lord God. ||2||
|
ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
पूरा सतिगुरु भेटिआ सफल जनमु हमारा ॥
Pooraa saṫgur bʰéti▫aa safal janam hamaaraa.
Meeting with the Perfect True Guru, my life has been blessed.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਵੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਰੇ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
नामु नवै निधि पाइआ भरे अखुट भंडारा ॥३॥
Naam navæ niḋʰ paa▫i▫aa bʰaré akʰut bʰandaaraa. ||3||
I have obtained the nine treasures of the Naam, and my storehouse is inexhaustible, filled to overflowing. ||3||

ਆਵਹਿ ਇਸੁ ਰਾਸੀ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
आवहि इसु रासी के वापारीए जिन्हा नामु पिआरा ॥
Aavahi is raasee ké vaapaaree▫é jinĥaa naam pi▫aaraa.
Those who love the Naam come as dealers in the merchandise of the Naam.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
गुरमुखि होवै सो धनु पाए तिन्हा अंतरि सबदु वीचारा ॥४॥
Gurmukʰ hovæ so ḋʰan paa▫é ṫinĥaa anṫar sabaḋ veechaaraa. ||4||
Those who become Gurmukh obtain this wealth; deep within, they contemplate the Shabad. ||4||
|
ਭਗਤੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੑੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
भगती सार न जाणन्ही मनमुख अहंकारी ॥
Bʰagṫee saar na jaaṇanĥee manmukʰ ahaⁿkaaree.
The egotistical, self-willed Manmukhs do not appreciate the value of devotional worship.

ਧੁਰਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਅਨੁ ਜੂਐ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੫॥
धुरहु आपि खुआइअनु जूऐ बाजी हारी ॥५॥
Ḋʰarahu aap kʰu▫aa▫i▫an joo▫æ baajee haaree. ||5||
The Primal Lord Himself has beguiled them; they lose their lives in the gamble. ||5||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਰੀਰਿ ॥
बिनु पिआरै भगति न होवई ना सुखु होइ सरीरि ॥
Bin pi▫aaræ bʰagaṫ na hova▫ee naa sukʰ ho▫é sareer.
Without loving affection, devotional worship is not possible, and the body cannot be at peace.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਮਨ ਧੀਰਿ ॥੬॥
प्रेम पदारथु पाईऐ गुर भगती मन धीरि ॥६॥
Parém paḋaaraṫʰ paa▫ee▫æ gur bʰagṫee man ḋʰeer. ||6||
The wealth of love is obtained from the Guru; through devotion, the mind becomes steady. ||6||
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
जिस नो भगति कराए सो करे गुर सबद वीचारि ॥
Jis no bʰagaṫ karaa▫é so karé gur sabaḋ veechaar.
He alone performs devotional worship, whom the Lord so blesses; he contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad.

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੭॥
हिरदै एको नामु वसै हउमै दुबिधा मारि ॥७॥
Hirḋæ éko naam vasæ ha▫umæ ḋubiḋʰaa maar. ||7||
The One Name abides in his heart, and he conquers his ego and duality. ||7||
|
ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਜਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਏਕੋੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
भगता की जति पति एकुो नामु है आपे लए सवारि ॥
Bʰagṫaa kee jaṫ paṫ éko naam hæ aapé la▫é savaar.
The One Name is the social status and honor of the devotees; the Lord Himself adorns them.

ਸਦਾ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੮॥
सदा सरणाई तिस की जिउ भावै तिउ कारजु सारि ॥८॥
Saḋaa sarṇaa▫ee ṫis kee ji▫o bʰaavæ ṫi▫o kaaraj saar. ||8||
They remain forever in the Protection of His Sanctuary. As it pleases His Will, He arranges their affairs. ||8||
