ਅਲੰਕਾਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਥੈਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਨਿਕ ਵਖਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
अलंकार मिलि थैली होई है ता ते कनिक वखानी ॥३॥
Alankaar mil ṫʰælee ho▫ee hæ ṫaa ṫé kanik vakʰaanee. ||3||
When golden ornaments are melted down into a lump, they are still said to be gold. ||3||

ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਸੋਭਾ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
प्रगटिओ जोति सहज सुख सोभा बाजे अनहत बानी ॥
Pargati▫o joṫ sahj sukʰ sobʰaa baajé anhaṫ baanee.
The Divine Light has illuminated me, and I am filled with celestial peace and glory; the unstruck melody of the Lord’s Bani resounds within me.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਘਰੁ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਓ ਬੰਧਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
कहु नानक निहचल घरु बाधिओ गुरि कीओ बंधानी ॥४॥५॥
Kaho Naanak nihchal gʰar baaḋʰi▫o gur kee▫o banḋʰaanee. ||4||5||
Says Nanak, I have built my eternal home; the Guru has constructed it for me. ||4||5||

ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਰਾਜਨ ਅਰੁ ਭੂਮਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੀ ॥
वडे वडे राजन अरु भूमन ता की त्रिसन न बूझी ॥
vadé vadé raajan ar bʰooman ṫaa kee ṫarisan na boojʰee.
The desires of the greatest of the great kings and landlords cannot be satisfied.

ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਤੇ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੀ ॥੧॥
लपटि रहे माइआ रंग माते लोचन कछू न सूझी ॥१॥
Lapat rahé maa▫i▫aa rang maaṫé lochan kachʰoo na soojʰee. ||1||
They remain engrossed in Maya, intoxicated with the pleasures of their wealth; their eyes see nothing else at all. ||1||

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
बिखिआ महि किन ही त्रिपति न पाई ॥
Bikʰi▫aa mėh kin hee ṫaripaṫ na paa▫ee.
No one has ever found satisfaction in sin and corruption.

ਜਿਉ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਈਧਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਹਾ ਅਘਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जिउ पावकु ईधनि नही ध्रापै बिनु हरि कहा अघाई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ji▫o paavak eeḋʰan nahee ḋʰaraapæ bin har kahaa agʰaa▫ee. Rahaa▫o.
The flame is not satisfied by more fuel; how can one be satisfied without the Lord? ||Pause||

ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਤ ਭੋਜਨ ਬਹੁ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਨ ਭੂਖਾ ॥
दिनु दिनु करत भोजन बहु बिंजन ता की मिटै न भूखा ॥
Ḋin ḋin karaṫ bʰojan baho binjan ṫaa kee mitæ na bʰookʰaa.
Day after day, he eats his meals with many different foods, but his hunger is not eradicated.

ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁਆਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਟਾ ਘੋਖਾ ॥੨॥
उदमु करै सुआन की निआई चारे कुंटा घोखा ॥२॥
Uḋam karæ su▫aan kee ni▫aa▫ee chaaré kuntaa gʰokʰaa. ||2||
He runs around like a dog, searching in the four directions. ||2||
|
ਕਾਮਵੰਤ ਕਾਮੀ ਬਹੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜੋਹ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ॥
कामवंत कामी बहु नारी पर ग्रिह जोह न चूकै ॥
Kaamvanṫ kaamee baho naaree par garih joh na chookæ.
The lustful, lecherous man desires many women, and he never stops peeking into the homes of others.

ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਕਰੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਪੈ ਸੋਗ ਲੋਭ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਕੈ ॥੩॥
दिन प्रति करै करै पछुतापै सोग लोभ महि सूकै ॥३॥
Ḋin paraṫ karæ karæ pachʰuṫaapæ sog lobʰ mėh sookæ. ||3||
Day after day, he commits adultery again and again, and then he regrets his actions; he wastes away in misery and greed. ||3||
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਮੋਲਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
हरि हरि नामु अपार अमोला अमृतु एकु निधाना ॥
Har har naam apaar amolaa amriṫ ék niḋʰaanaa.
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is incomparable and priceless; it is the treasure of Ambrosial Nectar.

ਸੂਖੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥
सूखु सहजु आनंदु संतन कै नानक गुर ते जाना ॥४॥६॥
Sookʰ sahj aananḋ sanṫan kæ Naanak gur ṫé jaanaa. ||4||6||
The Saints abide in peace, poise and bliss; O Nanak! Through the Guru, this is known. ||4||6||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਃ ੫ ॥
धनासरी मः ५ ॥
Ḋʰanaasree mėhlaa 5.
Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:

ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਗਨ ਕਉ ਹੈ ਕਛੂਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਇਹੁ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
लवै न लागन कउ है कछूऐ जा कउ फिरि इहु धावै ॥
Lavæ na laagan ka▫o hæ kachʰoo▫æ jaa ka▫o fir ih ḋʰaavæ.
Nothing which this mortal being runs after, can compare to it.
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਇਹੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥
जा कउ गुरि दीनो इहु अमृतु तिस ही कउ बनि आवै ॥१॥
Jaa ka▫o gur ḋeeno ih amriṫ ṫis hee ka▫o ban aavæ. ||1||
He alone comes to have it, whom the Guru blesses with this Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਇਓ ਏਕੁ ਰਸਾ ॥
जा कउ आइओ एकु रसा ॥
Jaa ka▫o aa▫i▫o ék rasaa.
One who comes to know the subtle essence of the One Lord,
|
ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਆਨ ਨਹੀ ਖੁਧਿਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਬਸਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
खान पान आन नही खुधिआ ता कै चिति न बसा ॥ रहाउ ॥
Kʰaan paan aan nahee kʰuḋʰi▫aa ṫaa kæ chiṫ na basaa. Rahaa▫o.
for that person the desire to eat, to wear new clothes, and all other desires, do not abide in the mind. ||Pause||
|
ਮਉਲਿਓ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਇਓ ਹਰਿਆ ਏਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
मउलिओ मनु तनु होइओ हरिआ एक बूंद जिनि पाई ॥
Ma▫uli▫o man ṫan ho▫i▫o hari▫aa ék boonḋ jin paa▫ee.
The mind and body blossom forth in abundance, when one receives even a drop of this Nectar.

ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
बरनि न साकउ उसतति ता की कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥२॥
Baran na saaka▫o usṫaṫ ṫaa kee keemaṫ kahaṇ na jaa▫ee. ||2||
I cannot express His glory; I cannot describe His worth. ||2||
|
ਘਾਲ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਆਇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ॥
घाल न मिलिओ सेव न मिलिओ मिलिओ आइ अचिंता ॥
Gʰaal na mili▫o sév na mili▫o mili▫o aa▫é achinṫaa.
We cannot meet the Lord by our own efforts, nor can we meet Him through service; He comes and meets us spontaneously.

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਕਮਾਨੋ ਮੰਤਾ ॥੩॥
जा कउ दइआ करी मेरै ठाकुरि तिनि गुरहि कमानो मंता ॥३॥
Jaa ka▫o ḋa▫i▫aa karee méræ tʰaakur ṫin gurėh kamaano mannṫaa. ||3||
One who is blessed by my Lord Master’s Grace, practices the Teachings of the Guru’s Mantra. ||3||

ਦੀਨ ਦੈਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
दीन दैआल सदा किरपाला सरब जीआ प्रतिपाला ॥
Ḋeen ḋæ▫aal saḋaa kirpaalaa sarab jee▫aa parṫipaalaa.
He is merciful to the meek, always kind and compassionate; He cherishes and nurtures all beings.

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਜਿਉ ਮਾਤਾ ਬਾਲ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੭॥
ओति पोति नानक संगि रविआ जिउ माता बाल गुोपाला ॥४॥७॥
Oṫ poṫ Naanak sang ravi▫aa ji▫o maaṫaa baal gopaalaa. ||4||7||
The Lord is mingled with Nanak, through and through; He cherishes him, like the mother her child. ||4||7||

ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੑਾਯਾ ॥
बारि जाउ गुर अपुने ऊपरि जिनि हरि हरि नामु द्रिड़्हाया ॥
Baar jaa▫o gur apuné oopar jin har har naam ḋariṛ▫aa▫yaa.
I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who has implanted the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, within me.

ਮਹਾ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੀਧਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਿਖਾਯਾ ॥੧॥
महा उदिआन अंधकार महि जिनि सीधा मारगु दिखाया ॥१॥
Mahaa uḋi▫aan anḋʰkaar mėh jin seeḋʰaa maarag ḋikʰaa▫yaa. ||1||
In the utter darkness of the wilderness, He showed me the straight path. ||1||
|
ਹਮਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
हमरे प्रान गुपाल गोबिंद ॥
Hamré paraan gupaal gobinḋ.
The Lord of the universe, the Cherisher of the world, He is my breath of life.

ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਕੀ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ईहा ऊहा सरब थोक की जिसहि हमारी चिंद ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Eehaa oohaa sarab ṫʰok kee jisahi hamaaree chinḋ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Here and hereafter, he takes care of everything for me. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਪਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
जा कै सिमरनि सरब निधाना मानु महतु पति पूरी ॥
Jaa kæ simran sarab niḋʰaanaa maan mahaṫ paṫ pooree.
Meditating on Him in remembrance, I have found all treasures, respect, greatness and perfect honor.

ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘ ਨਾਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਧੂਰੀ ॥੨॥
नामु लैत कोटि अघ नासे भगत बाछहि सभि धूरी ॥२॥
Naam læṫ kot agʰ naasé bʰagaṫ baachʰėh sabʰ ḋʰooree. ||2||
Remembering His Name, millions of sins are erased; all His devotees long for the dust of His feet. ||2||
|
ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਚਾਹੈ ਸੇਵੈ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
सरब मनोरथ जे को चाहै सेवै एकु निधाना ॥
Sarab manoraṫʰ jé ko chaahæ sévæ ék niḋʰaanaa.
If someone wishes for the fulfillment of all his hopes and desires, he should serve the one supreme treasure.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
पारब्रहम अपर्मपर सुआमी सिमरत पारि पराना ॥३॥
Paarbarahm aprampar su▫aamee simraṫ paar paraanaa. ||3||
He is the Supreme Lord God, infinite Lord and Master; meditating on Him in remembrance, one is carried across. ||3||
|
ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਓਲੑਾ ॥
सीतल सांति महा सुखु पाइआ संतसंगि रहिओ ओल्हा ॥
Seeṫal saaⁿṫ mahaa sukʰ paa▫i▫aa saṫsang rahi▫o olĥaa.
I have found total peace and tranquility in the Society of the Saints; my honor has been preserved.

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀਨੋ ਚੋਲੑਾ ॥੪॥੮॥
हरि धनु संचनु हरि नामु भोजनु इहु नानक कीनो चोल्हा ॥४॥८॥
Har ḋʰan sanchan har naam bʰojan ih Naanak keeno cholĥaa. ||4||8||
To gather in the Lord’s wealth, and to taste the food of the Lord’s Name - Nanak has made this his feast. ||4||8||
